I have 265/70/17's on my D3

Great tyres although there is some rubbing on the front of the rear wheel arch liner so I am confining their use to winter. Anyone else have rubbing on this size? I know they are slightly oversize but I had understood that they would not rub.

I have also been looking for new tyres, for me it was a choice of Mickey Thompson or Cooper At3's. General Grabbers are not available in South Australia so not really a choice.
After a lot oof reading etc. I have decided to go for the AT3's which I will need to i before our trip at Easter.
What was interesting was that I took my car out over a local 4x4 track, which included a number of rocky climb and descents. The worn out Wranglers (just legal) did well, but that was probably due to the power of the disco itself.Discovery 4 2.7 SE

Recently put on a new set of General Grabber AT's 255/60R18 (not the AT2).
So far quite happy, no increase in noise at all over the previous Pirelli Scorpion Zero's and the tread looks the goods 8)
Haven't used them on dirt in anger yet though.
When I was getting them fitted a guy came into the tyre place on a very busy Sat morning and said to the chap behind the counter
'I need 4 new tyres'
- 'What size of tyre?'
'Don't know'
- 'What type of tyre?'
'Don't know...(pause)...but I think I like Michelin'MY05 TDV6 S - manual, King springs lift, General Grabber AT

I am about to order some Cooper LTZ 255/55/19 to replace the Goodyear for a trip to the outback.
I do not have all the details yet as to pricing, but I expect to have that tomorrow.
Update
The dealer has got them in stock for me. Now to get home to Oz and organise a time for fitment.
The price is approx $420 each and will post some pics when fitted.Fuji White D4 2012. Reversing camera, E-diff, Hi-line sound, Xenon lights, ARB bullbar with Lightforce xenon lights and cargo barrier

Ok guys, after reading through all the posts, Im still not the wiser on which is a good replacement for my Disco3. A lot of talk about General Grabber AT2 255/60R18, but unable to obtain then in Australia, and if you do import them from USA yourself, wat warranty would be. So Toyo, Pirelli, Bridgestone, etc.
I assume it still comes on how much you want to pay, warranty, and then noise / ride.
Will have to look deeper

You should be able to get the GG AT2 it is the AT that is not available in oz in that sisze. Try Jax Tyres. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Have just replaced the OEM Goodyears at 68,000km with Pirelli ATR 255/60/18.
The OEM were quite good for my use but did get a bit noisy as they wore.
With the pirelli that I have just put on the ride on anything except good roads the ride has been ruined, they handle great and are very quite so far but the ride is bad.
I have tried pressures from 30 to 45 PSI but can not find a pressure that they ride O.K. at.
Ordered them because of the great reports they seam to get on forum.
On right road they are great but not too many of them where I live.
Interested in other peoples experience here in Australia with ATR's.
Has some one put tyres on that they feel ride better than Goodyear OEM ?Do not take life too seriously no one gets out alive anyway!

265/70/17's rub on D3
Hi Discoed - you mentioned your 265/70/17's rub on your D3. Is it an Air suspension model or a coiler? I've heard/read that 265/70/17's rub when the ride height is lower. I ask because I have a king spring raised coiler and hoping that 265/70/17's won't rub.
Better still if anyone knows that max tyre size for a raised coiler with 17" rims that would be great too
Thanks!

I ran 265/70R17's on both my D3's. The rubbing only occurred on the rear plastic wheel-well liner at full compression, and wasn't of any concern to me (although I did bend the metal seam behind the plastic out of the way, just in case).
