I got a quote yesterday for a 2014 se tech with 35000miles, ticked every module, no limit, no excess on anything. £1070.53p for 1 year or approx £2500 for 3yrs, also questioned about crankshaft they said yes covered under engine even covered just on basic core cover, still debating what to do,,, just get core at £250 year and cover the main worry or go full cover and (hopefully) worry free motoring (if it is actually worry free)
Only thing that is bothering me is my local JLR is not part of there authorised repairer so would have to have it transported approx 1 hour away to nearest authorised dealer should I break down.2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

Presume they will need to inspect it before taking it on and there may be a period of time where you’re not fully covered at the start of the policy. Worth checkingGary

I think you can have the work completed at any VAT registered garage, so you dont have to have it transported anywhere.
You will however have to pay the garage yourself and claim back from WD.
The dealer i used to use did it this way, and i never had a problem. Ive since moved to an indy as the dealer went to pot, and i haven't yet had to make a claim, however i assume it would be the same procedure there.
Seems like prices have gone up a lot. I did a 3 year warranty 2 years ago, and i think i paid less than £700/year, for Extra Care inc emissions. The D4 would have been on around 70K then i think, and a 2010, however i did have a single year previously. My final year runs out in a year from now. Not sure what my options will be then, as i would probably be on 115k at that point!

Think you would be ok with the mileage but the age could be an issue.
The documents with mine states the limits are, new policy’s 120k and 12 years and 15 years with a maximum mileage of 150k for policy renewals. Unless agreed by WD prior to purchase and shown in your schedule.
Cover starts immediately for vehicles coming out of manufacturers warranty.
Any garage of your choice as long as VAT registered.

Could I use a WD approved garage (so don’t have to pay and claim) and also insist on OE parts. Or do I get what parts they decide to replace with. Yes I does seem a tad expensive but if worst case engine replacment its better than £15k for engine I suppose. Also stuff like turbos & manifolds I presume are expensive repairs so also covered.2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

I’ve gone with dealer rates, more expensive but if it’s at the dealers it’s a fair assumption that it will be genuine parts.

One thing I did was to send scans of my service completed sheets with list of parts/oil used details on them. They suggested I could do this. The WD paperwork says these need to be provided in event of a claim so sending them over in advance saves doing that at the time of a claim ( that’s the therory, but we’ll see).Gary

The time has come for me to make my decision on a warranty.
WD cost for all modules, uncapped labour, £50 excess and 0% customer contribution is £1,969 for my 3 year old Graphite with 33k on the clock.
Same modules but with capped labour, £250 excess and 20% customer contribution is £1,029, nearly half the price.
And various combinations bring the price in between these two. I think I'm fairly happy with a higher excess but 0% customer contribution. Main question is about the capped/uncapped labour rate. I've no idea what JLR charge per hour, and what a reasonable Indy in south England would cost, so don't know how far the £72 per hour cap would get me. Anyone know the going rates for decent Indies v. a dealer?MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

I have just taken a 3 year full package out with WD, It was about £1600.
Seems to be a few variables, 33k, two year cover, all modules, £50 excess, zero contribution, dealer rates, a shade over £1500.
Peteyd, Stratstone Aylesbury £180 per hour.

So if crank or bearing failed in first 90 days wd would not payout

Thanks. I have ended up getting all modules for 3 years, uncapped labour, 0% contribution with a £250 excess for £1,533. That was over £400 cheaper than the option with a £50 excess, so unless I have more than 2 major claims during the 3 years, that saves me some money.MY16 D4 Graphite in Loire Blue

hi,
just been reading there policy docs
and
you can cancel the policy and if no claim made in the year they refund all unused months and if there has been a claim they still refund any un-started years, if you do go for 2 or 3 year policy and then sell the car in the first year

That's in interesting one. Ours has failed, 3 years and 6 day old Disco 4, spent those 6 days having warranty work done by JLR so not in our possession, failed following day. New engine required. We took out the Extended Warranty and it is not covered apparently. So would I also be right in it not covered by WD as it would have been within 90 days, even though it would have been continuous coverage from manufacturer?
