IID Tool Disappointing L322 drive
I am going to look at a 2005 FFLR at the weekend, can I use my IID BT tool to read codes on it?

I went to look at the mentioned L322 td6 and have to say after driving it, I was really disappointed.
Compared to my D3 of the same vintage 2006 vs 2005 FFRR the drive was terrible. It felt uncomfortable, noisey and a bit unrefined. Sure it didn't have the power or performance of the D3 but it was more thsn that.
Was it just a bad one or is the D3 just a more refined drive? An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

The BMW M57 was long in the tooth by 2006, particularly the version LR hung onto in the L322.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I can understand the engine feeling a bit sluggish but it felt like driving a car a generation older thsn the D3. Was thd face lift version a better car?
Or was the D3 that much of an improvement it surpassed the L322 in comfort and drive.
I haven't driven one yet but I am guessing the RRS is a much better drive than both the L322 and D3.An honorable defeat is better than a dishonorable victory.” ― Millard Fillmore

Roughly equal age RRS vs D3: better is so subjective.......... for example, RRS with big wheels and thin tires is not exactly a pleasure to drive on uneven pavement or streets. OTOH the D3 has its own wallowing style - which I prefer (like I prefer the D4’s) - but I’ve seen some people make them to resemble rice rockets. I think the RRS suspension bushes are slightly less elastic than the D3’s.
YMMV.

So are the D3 and RRS a step up from the L322?

Not that I claim to know this by heart but if production commenced 2001 the design had to have happened before that

Certainly the interiors look very dated.
I think they are a design generation behind the D3. Which may explain it.
Don’t tell this guy though !

No idea how much it changed during the production run, first vehicle was 2001 and last 2010 I think?

RRS has the newer version of the D2 ACE system which was excellent 0n the D2 so assume the same on the RRS, ACE means it goes around corners without wallowing like a drunk pig ie like a D3!
I wasnt that impressed with mates 2009 FFRR especially the level of wear and tear for its miles, it had not dont 100k yet going by the wear on the trim (internal and external) I would say it had done twice that.

Liked the FFRR video, it was full of wittiness and sarcasm
