Brake switch?
My D3 has the last couple of days thrown the dash light wobbly. I get limited to limp home some F I think in the gear selected window, the suspension comes down to lowest setting and I have a warning circle and triangle. Seem to remember this light pattern from my old car too. That turned out to be battery. I recharged the battery on this car and all was well for ten miles, then again the lights. Limped home turning it on and off to reset.
I removed the bottom trim panel and removed the brake switch to give it a good dose of switch cleaner. Reinstalled and pressed my foot on the brake to test and the lights immediately came back on again on the dash and car lowered. Restarted and all was fine, pressed the brake down lightly and no lights then harder and all the lights came on again.
I assume that my brake pedal switch is kaput? Are these hard to source? It’s a doddle to change once you accept your back will never be the same again.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Is it that regular a problem?
Good call if it is. What else is cheap and regularly goes to be worth keeping one in? It’s annoying that the car is practically unusable for a few days.Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Same here... happened to me on the motorway a couple of years ago.... not exactly the place to be turning ignition on and off to reset.
I now keep a spare in the glovebox..... easy fix and cheap as chips

I did, or thought I did. When had a breakdown that might have needed it, I’d left it 2,500 miles away back home.

Don’t forget to check brake light bulbs, they give the same symptoms It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

How would they suddenly effect it though? Do you mean the brake lights work or the type/ make of bulb?Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Yes to all, any anomaly with the brake lights will cause problems like yours It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Heard alot about break switch causing faults....anyone know why? is it a dip in electrical current or just an over reaction from the BCU?
