That's a tough story John, autoimmune conditions seem to be pretty tough. One of ours was suspected of having the same condition, unfortunately the Coombs test was messed up and the dog was already on steroids so you couldn't retest, lungworm was another possibility so we treated for that too and he pulled through but we never knew which, if either, he had.

^^^^^^
We had loads of tests done including biopsy of all major organs, tested for babesiosis which has very similar symptoms but all came back negative, after all tests they couldn’t say if the auto immune was a primary disease or a symptom of something else, probably would have been apparent after an autopsy but after the huge amount spent treating the disease, we couldn’t justify another £1000 on that.

First the good news, Max is recoving well and had his stitches out today, although the cone of shame is still on as he keeps licking the only wound he can reach.

Now for the Bloody even better news......we also got the results back today and it's what we were hoping. The tissue taken show that very few cancerous cells were found and they've confirmed it was very low grade, although as it's so low they couldn't realy put any markers on it (i may have got that last bit wrong, as i had tears in my eyes Laughing )

Chest etc all clear and the rear leg shows no evidence of cancer.

He has a routine check-up in Nov, but no other intervention needed, just check every 3 months

Happy, doesn't even get close to it Thumbs Up

So Max is certainly planning to be around for quite a few more years (at least 50 Laughing ) Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Thanks again for all of your comments and thoughts Thumbs Up

That's great news Iggy Thumbs Up

Very similar to us very low grade so they weren't overly concerned Quin has had a couple of other lumps and bumps come up but a visit to the vets, they draw some fluid out of them and check it and so far nothing to worry about
