Black box with flashing red light in cubby hole?
Hello, I'm not the first owner of this 2011 Disco 4 LE. I was just having a poke around and found a black box wedged into cubby hole behind rear nearside light cluster.
It's got a few cables going in and out and is just sat at the bottom.
Note the sticker suggesting the sticker should be removed post installation so probably after market?
Any thoughts what this might be? Odd it being sat there wedged into the wheel arch gap. Thanks

Thanks, nothing in the link you sent resembles it. I'm thinking maybe for rear screens but figure it wouldnt still have the sticker on like that if stock and they should be stock on the LE as far as I'm aware.
I'll post pics when the forum allows me (new member) so couldnt reply to DM.

Tracker/Black Box (Insurance)/Cheap Tuning box?
Are you able to trace the wires?

Hmm. so sounds like it shouldn't be there. Could be tracker, could be insurance.. tempted to unplug and see what happens! its the red flashing light that caught mu eye as i removed the cover to the cubby hole in the dark. Let me see if I can upload some pics. Assume there is a minimum post count.

Looks like potential fakra cables? I might be totally wrong which may be something to do with the entertainment system?
I'd deffo trace the cables back as far as you can!

aye.. maybe Im being bugged. I'll see if I can trace the cables a little later. makes sense may be for rear screens but they are old school 2011 slot in dvd jobbies. no cross connect or ability to control from head unit, watch tv etc.
When I spotted the red light flashing I had simply unlocked the car and opened the boot / cubby. Therefore it is powered at all times or at a minimum when the car is unlocked and the internal lights come on. Figure if it is for the screens it would only come to life when I power on the car.
nothing printed on the box other than the sticker that says "Please connect the internal battery before commissioning and remove this label after successful commissioning".
googling for pics of trackers, screen controllers etc and found nothing. ho hum..

Aha! thanks. that or both of us are being bugged At least I'm not alone.
Very good, my car has DAB so makes sense. Weird they just dump it in there.

Could be tracker, After market Tv, after market phone amp/interface etc. Those FAKRAs are the later style from 2014?? So I don’t think it original to the car. If it was part of the entertainment system it would have a MOST connection. I can only see what appears to be live and earth and a co-ax in and co-ax out.

interesting on the years / version you mention.. nothing aftermarket as far as I can see in the vehicle. Maybe as already mentioned it was for DAB but no upgrade needed as far as I know, was stock. weird if DAB that it is powered when car turned off though

It’s not DAB as that’s a steel chassis module for 2010 to 2013 and has a MOST cable.
