Max my Springer, Mast Cell Tumour- updated
My best mate Max, a near six year old Springer has just been diagnosed with something called a Mast Cell Tumour.
Vet has only just called, so not really taken much in
They want to operate quickly, so I'm expecting within the next few days
I've jusy had a sneaky cry on my own here, I'm sure all will be fine but I'm worried
Any thoughts, advice Welcome
Here he is after one of his previous mishaps

So sorry to hear this Ieuan, although the prognosis will hopefully be good.
Google is your friend, as is your vet.
Keep us posted & keep optimistic.

Our rescue Boxer had one on his neck a month after we adopted him.
Operated within a couple off days, they sent it of to see what grade tumor it was, fortunately it was low so they said we shouldn't have any more issues from that one.
That was four years ago, he still gets bumps and lumps but vet looks and isn't too concerned.
For your peace of mind if they offer to get it tested after removal have it done, even if it and fingers crossed t isn't a higher grade at least you know to keep an eye on him.

Sorry to hear about Max and hopefully it is a low grade tumour and the vet has "caught" it early.
Fingers crossed for Max and for Milo, who will want to know what's happening.Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

Our Sam had a tumour on his paw, quick surgery sorted it out and he had a good few years of quality life after that. Fingers crossed it’s something that can just be whipped off/out, Max is young & fit, it’s a good start point.
Pm Mightymildred I'm sure she will help put your mind at rest, she has the ability to explain it all in an understanding way.

No, not yet, but planning it for next week. The location is under essentially his right armpit, so in the chest area
He's on 4mg piriton now twice a day to help

@ Washwipe
I’d discuss it first tbh, if it has spread to his chest then I’m afraid it’s not good and I wouldn’t operate. But if the vet says no the chest is clear and we don’t think it’ll spread then you have a whole different ball game. We have a bitch that had one as a youngster as a tie and it was an easy choice and has been successful. We also have an old boy 13 that has a tumour on his chest and another on his back that we won’t touch, he’s not being caused any problems so if you don’t need to touch it then you’re best off not.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone
