I’m driving around by the seat of my pants at the moment as our D4 is out of warranty and I’m still undecided on which after market product to go with.
The original plan was to get rid for something newer. I’ve given the D5 18 months to grow on me, but it simply hasn’t. FFRR’s are too pricey new or even nearly new. I’ve looked at various other stuff out there but nothing is floating my boat at the moment and since I’ve put new tyres on the D4 it’s magic carpet ride seems to have been enhanced.
The obvious choice would be to stick with what we like with the only drawback being, will it go Bang!!
So, favourite on here by a stretch seems to be Warranty Direct.
Am I right in assuming that if I suffer the much discussed Crank issue, and I’ve ticked the uncapped labour box, my D4 is taken with tender loving care to the nearest main dealer for a bright and shiny new engine straight out of the box 
Or is that wishful thinking 
The only other modul (3rd most expensive  ) that interests me is the one that covers steering, brakes and suspension amongst other things.
Who decides when your suspension bushes need replacing. Is that down to an MOT failure/complete failure. I can’t see them giving the green light on replacement because I’ve detected a bit of play 
The Cat and DPF cover seems good value but there never seems to be any mention of them failing on here 
I know it’s a bit of a ‘how long is a piece of string’ question but I’d be interested to hear of any recent dealings with WD, especially since the new style warranty has been in place.
Much cheaper option to buy a warranty on a car we like than spend more on a car we might not. But it’s only cheap if WD honour their ‘promises’

I will be watching this with interest as mine is 3 years old in June and I have the same thoughts /questions  When you are dead, you do not know you are dead. All of the pain is felt by others. The same thing happens when you are stupid.

I had a new rear diff and rear propshaft last year with no difficulty, that was on the old style of cover.

Mine also out of warranty in April, had quote with WD all boxes ticked, and can’t decide which way to go. I’m sure I’ve read somewhere on here that they are now using recon engines? For Crank failure, But maybe wrong.

I've just signed up for the full works with WD, as my LR warranty ended... all options ticked, and labour uncapped, and they said the crank was covered. £2134 for 3 years, which is a lot of money, but it does buy piece of mind.

They are expensive but still a lot cheaper than changing to a new/newer LR product.
I’d sign up to a warranty in a heart beat but the days of paying into an insurance pot and those that needed to make a claim got paid seem long gone.
All about the profit margin these days. So many stories of failed claims it makes one very suspicious of warranty companies. Discovery 4 HSE

Mine runs out in March, I have gone for the WD core uncapped, £650 for three years, pretty much everything else I'm hoping I can do or know an Indy that can do at a reasonable price.
Watch out if you are thinking, the quote levels change every 10K miles, when it goes up quite a bit. I bought mine 2 months prior to old one running out and put day before the end for when it starts Joined the BMWX5 45e group

For those fortunate to be still under manufacturer's warranty, and not that well known, is that you can sign up in advance with WD, for up to three years extended warranty, and they base the price on the age and mileage at that time for a princely sum of £25 deposit, and it is then fixed, despite increases in miles and age until the warranty start date.

That was what I do, 2 months prior to end of manufacturers warranty and 50 miles under 30k, a significant saving Joined the BMWX5 45e group

The big advantage of starting immediately as LR warranty finishes is that wear & tear is covered from day one. If there is a gap there is a 90 day wait.

Oddly enough the warranty on mine is up the end of March, been quoted £878 for the top cover with all the add ons, uncapped with £50 excess.

I asked for a quote from WD for everything except the entertainment system cover with uncapped labour etc. My truck has done 68k and the quote was £4,400 for three years!!!

But that’s the whole point with this, you only need take what you want, you don’t need to go th3 2hole hog.
And remember at the end your car will be around 8 years old and over 100k miles at current rates, so not that bad really? Joined the BMWX5 45e group

I currently have LR extended warranty on my Mar 2015 82,000 mile car that runs out in March. LR quote £910 to extend one year. To go for everything uncapped one year £1906 with WD. Just core capped is £970 with WD. So my advice is if you know you are going to keep the car, then buy 2 or 3 year when the original warranty runs out. d4 HSE

My LR extended warranty is due July this year, personally I think the core alone with warranty direct is better than Lr extended as it covers crank, however I was thinking of adding suspension/wheel bearings etc. It also says that exhaust and gaskets are not covered. What does manifold come under, engine or exhaust. 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.
With added
Rse, tv, electric memory seats, rear camera, heated steering wheel,
Headlight dip assist, remote FBH, led door light pack,easy lift kit,osram front fog/drl/active cornering lights. and whatever els I can find to do,
