Disco 4 2015 SDV6 Command Shift.
Hi all.
The hand book for the Disco says the car will not auto shift up when in Command Shift and will hit the Rev limiter.
Mine still shifts at the same point as in Sport Auto.
Question to you all with the same car. What does yours do?
Thanks.

It will hold the gear for longer but it will shift up if it thinks you are being an ass 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks for the quick reply.
It shifts at the same rpm as auto. In the lower gears if feels as through it wants to keep going.
Thanks.

My sport only shifts up when I command it and it will sit on the limiter if I don’t. It does auto shift down though if I don’t.
Does your command shift work at all?012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

It works fine up and down but if I read the manual it should not shift up at 4200 but keep going until the Rev limiter calls enough.
My old 2014 Sport was the same and had the same(ish) engine. The SDV6 is a great engine and pulls from just over 1000 to over 4500 when it can in full manual.
Thanks

That’s correct, it shouldn’t shift up unless you command it to, does it do this in both sports and normal mode? It sounds like an issue with whatever tells the computer it’s in sport manual mode. Do you get the S indicator on the dash?012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

It is the same in D and S. Yes to S in the cash Command shift and the gear selected works.
D I would expect but in S I thought it should hold. Will chat to my local dealer when home next.
Thanks for the help.

So just to clarify, when you put it into Sports, the gears change automatically as expected but when you select command shift by pulling on the paddle to go into manual, it still auto changes without your input?
Have you tried command shift using the stick (although I guess it’s a rotary know in yours)?012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

I can go up and down with the paddles but as soon as the revs get to the normal upshift point it will shift up it self.

That’s really odd, when it’s in normal auto mode and you use command shift, does it also up shift or does it stay in command shift for the 20 seconds (or however long it is) before reverting back to normal?012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

COMMANDSHIFT™
If CommandShift™ is selected in high range,
gears 1 or 2 may be used for moving off from
stationary. In low range, gears 1, 2 or 3 may be
used, which may prove useful in certain
off-road driving conditions.
TRANSMISSION COMMANDSHIFT SELECTED
will appear in the message centre when the
transmission is in CommandShift mode.
Note: In order to protect the engine, the
transmission will automatically change up to
prevent over-revving, or down if the engine is

Just checked and seen that it is from the 2014 manual.
I’ve just checked mine and it says this below, I have Dynamic on mine so that explains why mine goes to the limiter without changing up automatically.

Yes ...different principle on the diesel Discos ...all of them, D3, D4...even my D5.. will shift up if you go into the red in D or S using the paddles or lever 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Thanks all.
So yes my last Range Rover 2014 when in Dynamic and manual would not up shift as the manual shows above.
I now except that the manual that came with my 64 plate Disco is wrong as that says it will not up shift at the limiter.
