Are the V6 Diesel engines in the D5 immune from crank snapping? I thought that the earlier ones were just a single turbo version of what had been used in the D4.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Yep, they sent most of the d5s back.
And Lizzy gets driven in an L322, not an L405, because she likes it better
The door apertures on the D4 and L322 are larger than the newer models and of course the rear seats in the D4 are more passenger friendly as well.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Personally, I’m amazed that JLR wouldn’t want the royal family to appear in anything other than current models. But then, Lizzie got to keep her L322 and Prince Philip hung on to his Freelander 2. The protection officers seem to have got L405’s, rather than Disco 5’s, so perhaps the family and their support get the final say.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

To be fair the younger Royals seem to have the new models, maybe it’s just the older ones don’t want the change.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

You’re right, it does seem to just be the younger members who aren’t so bothered. I’m confused about the next generation. Some just don’t care about cars at all and don’t see any reason to do anything other than catch a train or Uber, while others just have to have a Fiat 500 in just the right shade of pink!2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

It makes huge commercial sense for JLR and it’s ironic that the British royal family should help shift a lot of new Slovakian metal 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
