Rosen Rear Entertainment (Amazon Firestick) |
|
Hi All
I am thinking of installing a firestick to connect in to aux 2 on the rear entertainment system. The Rosen controller looks to be installed under the centre arm rest. Pic won't be brill, but will give the granddaughter access to Netflix, Prime, Disney+ etc.
The plan to run a male to male phono cable some the Rosen controller (aux 2) to above the Nav DVD under the passenger seat. I have an HDMI to RCA converter (video+/left, right audio) and a 12v to 2xUSB out to power the Firestick + RCA converter.
Connect my Firestick to phone hotspot job done, or at least I think
Don't want to be hacking about with cables (can meter 12v if needs be) so just checking, has anyone done this before? and where am I best to get 12v from?
Cheers

Hi Rio, I did almost exactly what you said. But I connected to the AV input which in my case is located behind the boot trim left side.

I used the 12v Power socket in the boot to power the HDMI-AV converter and the Chromecast. Works quite well.
Careful with your 4g data if not unlimited.

Thanks Prette, yes I have unlimited data very important.
Not sure if the Rosen system was a factory fit so before I start taking things apart does anyone know locations the control unit can be installed. I have 2 wirs Black and Grey going from under the seat up into the central console. I have looked in the rear where the 12v socket is and can't see anything other than a load of wires no control box. This seems like the most sensible place, but think mine is under the housing for the gears / cd holder.
Cheers
