extended warranty for direct (public) purchase
with a few of the warrenty providers pulling out of the direct to public marketplace, who is the current best warrenty provider (and dont say LR ) for an extended warrenty. My LR warrenty will expire next March, so just wanted to get some ideas/costs for budgetting for next year.

Assuming you’ve seen the change in the way WD are doing things?

Can’t think of any direct replacement for WD, LR one is deffo not one to consider. Mind you, not really been following the warranty side of things any more. The joys of being in a manufacturer’s warranty.

be great if WD were carrying on even through a reseller - even the extra cost that we would likely incur would be worth it IMO.
Like Al, I'm wondering who is going to best placed to cover engine costs if the dreaded happens.
Had the oil level sensor replaced on my 2013 FFRR. All paid for by the warranty company (customer protect).2013 RR Vogue SE SDV8

It just needs peeps to trawl through T&Cs looking for “crankshaft” and “design fault”.

yeh, but not enough Gareth - I did get a 2 year quote from WD just before they closed the website to public new business, and for the highest level of cover for my 2Ltr D5 was £795 for the 2 years - I thought that was pretty good, and would have gone for it, but didnt know they were stopping the public access.
So even if I save the £795, it wouldnt cover the big bits if something went wrong.

so effectively the warranty companies will cease to trade direct to the general public either for new customers or renewal of existing policies. Leaving thousands without any warranty cover.
Then the only way to get a warranty is when purchasing through a dealer
surely that cant be classed as fair for the consumer ?2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Why is there so much animosity towards the LR extended warranty?
I have had it on my D3, last D4 and the current FFRR. All with LRA and no real complaints other than it didn’t cover the rotting rear AC pipes on the D3.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

the LR extended wouldn't cover mine and WD were wanting stupid money per month due to having over 100k so my D4 is covered by anyone at the minute.
Just sets the alarm bells ringing for the future2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I had a few quotes of WD for different D4's I've been thinking of buying. All around the 90-100K mileage mark so prices were high. After finding WD no longer selling to the public (not sure if they would honour an existing quote??), I did a bit of googling and I think I fund it on pistonheads, someone said they use Motoreasy. They had a D4 and had it I writing off them that they would cover the crank for know crank failures. I had a quick look and for D4 I hope to buy they want around £80 a month for £50 contribution and limited labour up to about £65. Unlimited labour took it up to about £110 a month.

Has anyone any experience with Warrantywise?
I believe the owner also owns Lister Cars.
They do different levels of cover, but seem to stop at 12 years old / 120k
