I managed to get some cement today but sand was another matter. Nearly had to go to the beech.

It's in our house deeds from 1760 that we are allowed to take whatever material we want from the beach so long as it is used within the curtilage of our property...not sure what the local byelaws will make of that though.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

If I`m correct - beach sand is not very suitable for cement. Apparently grains are rounded, but for them to lock well, they need to have sharp edges - come from quarry.

Sand from sea beaches is no good as it has a lot of salt contamination for a start. It also has a lot of shell in it which isn't as good as the quartz make up of the sands dug from the land. Such sand can be used but it needs to be washed a lot and the resultant mortar / concrete is not as good being weaker and more prone to absorbing moisture and suffering from efflorescence amongst other issues.
Sand is a term that covers a huge range of material constituents as it refers to grain size.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

We had our roof re-done just after the first lockdown. Luckily the roofer had pre ordered the tiles and timber so had everything stored in his yard. We got put back a couple of months but managed to get it replaced without any problems unlike some others around here who got booked in after us.
The scaffolding company was telling us that he was looking to Syria to get his steels and
Go to composite plastic board. I had no idea scaff board had a life expectancy.

Tell me about it. I have quite a few projects on site at the moment and some coming to site. A fixtation on cost plans has ended up costing a Client £100ks more

You only need to look at precast concrete buildings from the 60s and 70s* to see what salt and shell in your cement can do to a building.
(* in the history books, as those suffering from "concrete cancer", as it was known, have mostly been demolished now)I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.
We had 40 t of drainage stone delivered within an hour of ordering. Living only a mile from the quarry does have its advantages sometimes...

As if cement shortages weren't bad enough, I hear today that the chocolate flake for our 99's is now seriously compromised too. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
