Passenger door not unlocking with the rest |
|
I know there have been dozens or more posts about central locking on the D4 but I can't find one that matches the problem I have.
2010 D4 with keyless entry.
If I open the driver's door it unlocks the car, all other doors unlock except the passenger door. I have to reach over and open it from inside to let my passenger in. The same is true if I use the unlock button on the key fob.
The confusion comes when I approach the passenger door from outside as it will unlock normally assuming the key is in my pocket.
I'd bought a new actuator, but I'm now wondering if it is a config issue rather than hardware.
Any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot this further?

As you have bought a new actuator fit it, that will eliminate the actuator. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I'd rather return it for a refund if it's not actually at fault! Did you not see my location?

I have the same issue but have not had time to diagnose or sort. Will be interesting to see how it pans out

It's the actuator. Good Powerful UK video on this which shows the fault. Mine exactly the same. It's the actuator failing to move the little flappy bit above the internal handle.

It does seem to be that in any lock issue the fix is to replace the actuator.
I'll wait until I've got a good few hours free in a day and replace it.
Cheers

Very surprised you did not want to try and replace just the motor in side the actuator really

I have exactly the same problem and mine too opens when approached using keyless entry system, on diagnosing I noted that the passenger door would lock using the fob but when trying to unlock it was only slightly moving the interior lock lever, spoke to LR Indy that I use today and he said that it will be the actuator! Be careful buying a cheap replacement though because apparently it will not work with the keyless entry system. Hope you get sorted ok... Never say never! After all, I bought a LandRover

My advise to anyone who has a faulty door lock on a D3/4 is change/repair ASAP, if the door reaches the stage of not being able to open AND IT WILL, it will turn a 90 minute job into a days job, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCESS THE DOOR MECHANISM WITHOUT DOING DAMAGE IF THE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED, it is a massive job entailing removing the seat, damaging or wrecking the door card, taking the door glass out and even then you may not be able to open the door It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Thought it might be helpful to put an update on this, actuator replaced on mine and all working as it should now! Never say never! After all, I bought a LandRover

I have 2 spare motors if anyone is wanting to try to replace the one in the actuator. My D4 is gone now, so they are surplus to requirements. Happy to post out to someone for a small donation to the site. 2018 1.5Ti Skoda Octavia - dull as f&ck

I don't come on here too often as I no longer own a disco of any flavour, but will try to do this week. 2018 1.5Ti Skoda Octavia - dull as f&ck
