Good afternoon all can anyone tell me if they have had there v8 cat removed and is there any benefits in sound or performance ect just I am thinking of having mine done Cheers steve

not worth the bother - performance wise it will still be a very large filing cabinet on wheels and still be around a 7 second 0-60

by adjusting the centre box down and going larger bore you'll get more than enough vroom to keep you happy and going.
4x4 fabrication did mine in shropshire
 05 D3 V8 HSE, LR Passion tree bars, wildbear compressor guard, LRP switch panel, ARB rear locker + compressor, Trigger 6 shooter electrical system
12 RRS SDV6 HSE (Hers) - Gone and replaced with an I Pace - I can tell you now EV is not the future yet

Purely as a matter of interest, I wonder if that would be the case on an LPG converted vehicle? When they do the emissions test on the MOT they use the non catalytic converter settings if your running on LPG so would the presence (or not) of the cat be a failure? Don't get me wrong I have no intention of taking them out (far too much effort for little gain and hassle of fooling the ECU not to put the EML light on).

An emissions control device not fitted would be the issue, regardless if it passed the actual emissions test

Over this side where MOT is not an issue, some guys have done it. Personally I contemplated it about 5 years ago and found it not worth the hassle. On two previous vehicles, a 1.9TDi Polo and a D2 V8 I de-cattted and it was also not worth the effort. On the D2 it added a resonation right in the cruising power band that took forever to resolve. At 271 k km I don't have any reason to do it on the D3.

If i felt compelled to have it done on the v8, what would be the problems, if any with the up and downstream o2 sensors and ECU?
