Why does a cracked rocker cover lead to overheating?

So cracked cover - loss of boost - and overheating…

Would like to know how /why the engine overheats in this scenario?

Mine never overheated when the manifold went pop. Just went into Restricted Performance when put under load.

Im puzzled by this and why it would overheat…

Only thing I can think of is boost delivered is lower than expected and the burn is at a hotter temp than if there is more air/boost (not sure here - hence the q)… i know basically ntg about diesel fuel burning… dont think its as comparable to a lean petrol condition which has other issues.

😳
