Steering Column Lock Module |
|
A friend is having trouble with a 2010 D4. Left it at dealer overnight for some further work but the following morning it wouldn't start and they have immediately indicted the steering column lock module. There are a couple of DTCs which I don't yet have and they are quoting a lot of money to replace the part. I don't like the idea of randomly chucking bits at a car in the hope it will fix it, without doing a bit of diagnosis first.
I've suggested that he makes sure the battery is fully charged and then tries the spare key as a start. The vehicle has been laid up for a few weeks and I know the battery was low. Has anyone else had this module literally fail overnight? Any more suggestion please?
Also can a used part be fitted if it needs replacement? I know it will probably need programming to the vehicle but I have a GAP tool which, hopefully, will suffice if needs be.
Any suggestions welcome. Thank you.
