Ooh, I like Jackanape. I do use it now and then.
The others are just the names of well known historical people - are they in danger of being lost?

Canute => Cnut
I meant Boadicea, which has gone to Boudica (see, I fallen for it already)
Montezuma => Motecuhzoma

Oh, I see.
Well, Cnut is probably the correct spelling anyway - Canute is a romanisation of the name by the Latinate speakers from France/Normandy.
Likewise, Boadicea is likely to be incorrect and Boudica closer to the correct spelling of a name that was unlikely to be written down at the time. Tacitus, son-in-law of Agricola (who was in Britain during the Iceni Revolt), calls her Boudica in his writings.
As for Montezuma, isn't that just a European spelling of a name that the people that still speak the local lingo spell as Motecuhzoma (other spellings are available, unhelpfully)?
Are you just wanting to cling to the post-Imperial/colonial view of the world, Hugh?

Should be Knut. Common name in the Scandinavian countries. 🇧🇻
It was his name? I thought it was just that folks referred to him as being a right cnut. .
