My D4 has so far been refused insurance by The AA and Direct Line, when I went to confused and CTMarket the renewals are double what I paid last year.
Tesco (current insurer) are quoting double too.
Just waiting on quote from A-Plan (now called Howdens). Hope they can insure me.
this is a ridiculous situation now, almost impossible to insure even in the middle of Leicestershire, with full NCD, no points, convictions, claims, and it's a standard vehicle.
It actually makes you wonder why you bother having one sometimes.1998 Defender 110 TUM HS FFR Hard Top XD WOLF

hopefully it may be useful to u and indeed seems getting a quote roughly 23 x days in advance is the sweet spot
Use to be with A plan , mine went up to £1,100 , went with Hastings on the end via compare the market for around £500 with protected NCB, home recovery etc
Fingers crossed u can find a better quote

I have the same problem, spent all day yesterday trolling the internet comparison sites for the cheapest offer, most sites will now only reserve the offer for a few hours, tried a gain this morning and they had all gone up again some by as much as 300% and my insurance isn’t due for another 3 weeks.
Hastings seem to be the best offer, but if you want your windscreen covered will cost at least £750, it went up from £590 overnight .It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Everyone is different.
I shop round various comparison sites. I got mine from Tesco insurance via Top
Cash back via Confused. I got much cheapness, plus £35 back and a £20 Halfrauds voucher.
SWMBO was cheaper from LV.

There are many threads about this on this forum and Def2.
Mine doubled from £1300 to £2600 with Admiral. They were still the cheapest though. NFU was over £4000 and some of the comparison sites went to £7000.
Also nothing has changed in anyway.

Don’t go direct to Hastings go through a comparison site and put your wife or someone else’s wife down as a named driver providing they have no offences on their license It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I am with NFU and have been for a few years. They seem to either want you or they don't.
Sometimes seeing if you can get 'in' with home and contents insurance and then motor but that's a lot of faff tbh.
I'm paying £780 fully comp, up from £550 last year for a 2014 D4 XXV (maybe £22k worth?).
I'm low risk age and full NCB, it's garaged at home, tracker and whilst they don't discount for it they do specify it and recognise the Ghost system as a reduction in theft risk.
Crucially for me they were happy with a long list of modifications that I have.
Worth trying but others have said their quotes were high.Jim

My renewal came in today, can't renew on a multicar as we got rid of a car. A standalone policy at £1300 versus £350 last year on the multi policy.
I'm shopping around and have got it to about £750, but as soon as I tell CompareTheMarket that I have modifications (wheels, tinting, new lights, roofrack, etc) it goes to about £1100 or more.
Assuming you all similarly declare your modifications, who's the best insurer at the moment? Adrian Flux are easy to chat with but they are at £1400 for my 18 year old D3...!2022 BMW i4 M50. Bought Oct 2022. 10,200 miles and counting...
