Oil leak from throttle body - lack of power
Hi all,
A couple of months ago I had gearbox refurbished. Whilst at garage during testing new gearbox they noticed that disco seemed unresponsive and slow below 2000rpm. As soon as it hit 2000rpm or above it was fine. They eventually discovered a pipe was loose,from the throttle body. It's as if the pipe 'sucked it in place' over 2000rpm.
Now the car has started showing similar symptoms again. I've took the engine cover off and the pipe out of throttle body seems to be a bit lo0 pm at the bottom of the pipe. There is also a lot of oil around the underneath of it.
Is it possible the clip is knackered? Should the pipe sit flush against the throttle body or should there be a slight gap like mine?

That does not look like that is fitted correctly. Try lifting the clip and pushing the pipe in, I'll check mine tomorrow if you get no joy from trying that. The oil seeping from the bottom of that assembly would point to it not being fully home. It's quite normal to have a certain amount of oil in the inlet tract. Car is lacking power because boost pressure is escaping. Does it sound like air is escaping when driving the car. Small tip; put the oil filler cap back on before something drops in there while working on the top of the motor........

Tried to have a good fiddle with it and 'push' it back on, by the fan housing was in the way and it was really difficult to push the pipe on. I took the clip out and reseated it, but not sure if it made more a difference. It started getting dark and didn't fancy taking parts off engine in the dark.
Would it be worth taking the entire throttle body off and giving it a good clean with brake cleaner or something similar?
Good spot on filler cap!

hi
when i done mine i removed the complete throttle body and cleaned it all up inc the large O rings
then used some silicone clear grease for reassembly
did also fit the T bolt clamps on the silicone hoses
have enclosed some pics if there any use to u

you probably need to loosen the 8mm long bolt holding that plastic box on.
Poke driver thru fan blades.
Then you might be able to re-seat it

Was just about to ask the same thing
Will a new clip be required too? Is it worth taking entire unit out and giving good clean with something like brake cleaner, at the same time?

yes take completely of and give it a good clean this is what your need
brake cleaner should do the job, it'll be oil from turbo and carbon muck from the EGR's to clean outPete
