| Generator field voltage too high |

Hi guys, hoping someone can schedule a little light on a problem I have with my 2007 disco 3 TDV6.
6 weeks ago I swapped out my alternator for a new (genuine Land Rover one) and all was good until today, I was checking a few fuses as I had a problem with the front heated seats and electrics on the drivers seat (didn’t find any blown fuses and all good fuses replaced back in original positions), started the car drove about 100 yards and noticed the RMS on the radio “low power mode” which I know to be the sign of low battery voltage from either dead battery or alternator not charging.
I pulled over cycled ignition went to start the vehicle and the battery was flat, luckily I have a jump pack in the car so started it and ran diagnostics which gave me the error generator field voltage to high, I cleared the code cycled ignition again and started (the car with aid of jump pack.
Low power message can straight back on the radio as soon as I removed the jump pack.
Tested voltage at battery with engine running and it showed 10.8v, turned off engine and tested again and shows 11.2v.
I have a battery tester that test the resistance et cetera on a battery along with voltage et cetera (same as Halfords have for testing batteries returned as faulty and battery was showing as good condition but low voltage (11.2v).
So my question is, do you think they alternator could’ve gone bad?

I would check the brown 5A ALT fuse under the bonnet, as you have been prodding in that area

Thanks Pete yes checked that fuse #20 I think and it was ok, so that’s not the problem.

10.8 on a battery usually means a cell is bad. Could you try disconnecting the battery and using a charger to see if it holds up?

I would check all the relevant fuses by physically taking them out and making doubly sure you have replaced them correctly and not tested using a probe while they are in position, the legs on these micro fuses can easily get bent when they are replaced. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
