Good man
Iv not been in touch regarding the interface as the tossers have stopped replying to my emails ..they wanted me to sent my pc to Korea so they could investergate the issues !!!
But there was other things wrong with it too !!!
Were you getting your converter from ..that may be an option for me aswell
I have a load of pics of dismantling the screen if you need any help when you get your parts ..although its quite straight forward.
Its an easy conversion ...just soldeing the fiddly little connectors that are the problemG4 Gone ...but not forgotten
but that's not the one I used before - but I can't remember the name of it, but used one for a client recently to convert the output from a server to composite to feed into a old cctv monitor. The image quality was ok but not very fine. I figure it would be fine for centifuge or whatever that was called (tried the demo - looked good) as it is big buttons and fints but not sure how good on say memory map. It seems the only option though.
I'll trawl the emails and web to try and remember what I bought - thought I saw it in CPC maybe, or was it some of the other IT trade stuff that drops through the front door everyday...
Did you buy connectors for the ribbon cable or just the cable and the widget from america?
Anyone else watching this thread want to split the US postage costs and order a few of these interfaces for the usb touchscreen (then make the rest up as we go along!!)
The one I used before was a Grand Hand View from grandtek for about £40 . There are other products from them just not sure how well it will work on the small screen.

Widget from the USA comes with a USB lead for one end of the board and another 4 pin lead for the other .
The rest of the stuff i got from RS components..have a look what i ordered ( pictures are not the best on RS)
514-4290
325-3342
515-1462
515-1327
I had to order 10 of each ... only used 4 altogether ..
2 x 515-1327
1 x 514-4290
1 x 515-1462
Joining connector ( to extend from screen wires to main board)
Main board
I can send you a few if you like ..so you can see how small they realy are
You can get all differerent orientation connectors ..wires out the side , the bottom , the top etc etc ..just found the discriptions a bit misleading .

Touchscreen Alt/LR
Sturge/Wiggs,
magnificent to see such commitment. I have attempted to get just the surround through my dealer who said that this would not be a problem though it would cost just under 3K but as a bonus I would get a touchscreen and the other parts thrown in for free Bloody brilliant. Anyway I have sourced a complete display for a lot less then that and will be mucking around with it to get it to work.
My intention is to mount the computer under the rear middle seat for ease of access and also for lack of heating in that location but lots of air circulation. If you can think of a better location let me know as I was thinking that the USB GPS receiver could be mounted in a dummy antenna on the rear of the roof in the std location.
Project has to wait now until after I install second battery and get car ready for trip during school holidays 4700k in 17 days should be brilliant
I will take notes, pictures and post once finished.
DTRA person is generally reasonable, people though can be deadly.

I'm from the otherside of the house, but am going to be adding a carputer. I love this idea, wana build me one for some $ ?
I'm thinkinng about taking this on but with the very small stuff it can be difficult for myself, I lost my hand in Iraq so it makes it difficult to do small electronic projects one handed. From RRS side
Thats just some help in identifiying the names of the connectors ...
Rs circuit board ...yes i used the same stuff ...please note that none of the small connectors line up with the holes in the board...i had to spred the terminals out to try and make them fit in the holes .You can get board with no holes and drill them yourself ..but very fiddly.
