Hi
I have a Disco 3 SE '06 model, bought new with just 1500 miles so far. I love it to bits. What a great car to eat up the miles in comfort. The only bad thing is having to stop for fuel!!!
Only one issue with it at the moment. Wind noise in the cabin over 70 mph seems excessive, at least compared to my old TD5. Is this common, and is there any way to fix it?
Many thanks

Mine doesn't do that, in fact I have once or twice looked down to see I'm doing a long way north of 70 but haven't noticed as the car is so quiet. I presume you haven't got a roof rack on? I also assume you aren't expecting it to be S class merc quiet! DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I remember something about door seals and/or door trim, but I've tried a search and nothing obvious has turned up

If you've got the expedition roof rack it'll be noisy, we do have a 'fix' though
Might seem a silly question but do you have the window open?
I assumue this was on a private road if you were going over 70

This is weird, because for the majority of the time, my D3 is much, much quieter than my TD5 was, at any speed, but now and then I do get a "wind" noise (and no, its not from me ), like a window is fractionally open, and even when I check, they are all closed. And then the noise stops. It must be the wind hooks into somewhere and kicks off, but as I change direction, it stops. I thought it might be the roof rails (without crossbars) at certain angles.

Just picked up my Disco on Saturday, and have to say that it's one of the quiestest cars I've driven on the motorway. I had difficulty in keeping down to 70-ish as it was so effortless.

Hello varna, the probable cause is what I had and that is the grommets in the doors, particularly the front doors. Open the doors wide and you will find a large rubber tube with wires inside on the hinge edge. The grommets were not inserted into the door hole. Simple push them in (not through) and the job is done. Check all doors are done..

Are the A pillar trims seated properly? (the black plastic covers each side of the windscreen) They should sit flush with the screen. If they have lifted, it makes a hell of a noise. Mine did this when it was new, and a good technical thump re-seated it and fixed the noise!

Verna,
This might sound an odd question but are you driving a TDV6 or a V8? The reason I ask is the noise from the TDV6, though miniscule, masks the wind noise. The V8 is a much quieter engine and you are suddenly reminded that the Disco 3 is brick shaped.

I had the same problem, the dealer couldnt find it but I did
Have a look at the sunroof from the outside.Mine was sticking up above the seal. Not a problem at low speed but over 70 bad news.
Its an easy fix with the roof fully open you can get to the adjusting screws on both sides.Good luck. D4 3.0 HSE cameras,Hybrid TV, 20" alloys, heated wheel, privacy, Tow pack.
Departed RRS TDV8 HSE Full Arden kit in TEAL and colour coded everything.
Departed Disco 3 2.7 HSE
I never drive faster than I can see!
