United Kingdom 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Cairns BlueDiscovery 3

I drive past two Stratstones dealerships to get mine serviced. Been shafted by both dealerships on previous LR purchases and warranty work. I now take mine to Duckworths, which is a world apart.

Really feel for you, I went through a whole hill of hassle when I bought a D2 from Stratstones... Good luck!

Update on my Stratstone experience.

Took the car back on Monday and informed them of all the problems i had and chose not to accept the car.

Dealer principal was extremely concerned that all boxes had not been ticked to get the new D3 to me in tip top condition.

Most of all the sales manager held his hands up like a man should and accepted the fact he had made a fatal mistake by not accepting the arch was damaged as he had put his full trust in the preparation process and had been let down by that. He apologized and said he could learn from what had happened so you can not get better than that!.

As for the car the DP offered me 2 options.

1st option was to keep the car and have a new arch fitted along with the suspension fault repaired. He then went on to offer me a full guarantee that should the problem persist after the repair had taken place he would refund my money in full. He also offered a full major service free of charge on behalf of the group for letting me down. I thought this was very good of them but i chose not to keep the car.

2nd option was to buy the car back and return my money.

I had my deposit on the tdv6 D3 of £500 returned plus a further £500 and full settlement of my previous car.

my td5 was £12500 and i have paid £250 per month for 12 month so i have lost a little but to be fair have ran about in a new td4 gs fl2 for months.

I owed 10k on the finance for the td5 so to have that settled off in full + the £500 i feel they have looked after me well as the td5 will be worth nowhere near that now.

I would just like to add that the new management running the dealership are far superior to the ones who recently left and have dealt with my complaint from the beginning. I started to lose a little faith but have had that fully restored by Neil Fox and Eddie Grieves. As for Gary Jarvis the sales man i had 110% trust in him all the way and still have, he's a great bloke.

I could now say having been treat in a better manner i would return to them when i build my trust in the land rover brand.

Thanks for all your support.

Andy-The-Landy now getting another bomb proof defender 300tdi to play in and the wife a golf gt tdi not an unreliable D3 lol

Parting with my first long awaited D3 after 6 days was like climbing into bed and finding a super model there only to be told not to touch her. it was enough to make any man physically sick!

I dont know what it would take to make me buy another one.

As others have said, go to another dealer. Lakeland is not too far from you and has a very good reputation on here. A good friend (JMC) travels from just outside Aberdeen to Lakeland Rolling Eyes I avoid 2 nearby Stratstones and have a 40 mile trip to my favoured dealer, Morrisons of Stirling.

There's a service centre in Gateshead, that's even nearer, and seems to get good reviews on here. I think it's independent - someone knowing more will point you to it I'm sure. That said, Lakeland were excellent when I bought mine from them.

Hi guys, I'm new on here but have been reading thru some of the threads and posts regarding tales of woe experienced by Andy and feel I have to add my tuppenceworth.

I run a Sport and a Disco, both of which I bought at Durham. Both cars TBH have had little niggles (which I firmly put down to L.R's lack of Q.C) but have found the guys at Durham more than willing and able to help with my problems.

Granted, last year there seemed to be a problem at the dealership, which I feel had loads to do with bad leadership rather than the guys "on the ground". But has been mentioned before the new DP seems sympathetic and more importantly seems to realise that "the customer is King".

I'm looking to chop the Sport soon, but can hand on heart say that if Durham can find me a deal I'm happy with then I'll be dealing with them.
