cooper tyres
Hi everybody new to the site and it looks great.
Will be getting a disco3 on Saturday and am having trouble sourcing tyres, the only ones i have been able to source are 245/70R17 COOPER DISCOVERER S/T at about £80 they also come in M/T at £100 are these tyres ok or could anyone recommend any others in 17" rims and will they fit ok as the tyres on the disco3 just now are 235x70x17.
Cheers Allan

The 245/70x17 fits fine, we are happy up to 255/70x17, I think some fit upto 265/70x17 but I am un-easy with this size myself.
You need to decide what you are going to be using the old girl for as to your tyre choice, I will be happy to quote you once you know your size and make.
You will no dought have lots of reply's
Happy New Year.

Been running my ST's for nearly two years - hardly any wear at all!
Did have an interesting understeer moment on the damp reverse camber entrance slip to IKEA Ashton this afternoon though - you do have to be every so slightly careful in the dampSteve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)

STTs are great offroad, but if you hammer up and dowm the motorway most days of the week they can be a little noisy especially if you dont have a roof rack..
If you dont mind the deep rumble they make then the STTs are Duncan

Welcome tika
I had a bad experience with the cooper tires.
Once you will go off road, and you will, they peel of rapidly up to a dangerous level.
I've changed to an American tire called General A/T which looks good off road and no noise.

Dear Discodunc
I agree with you that it might be the driver. However this driver has also thousands of miles on and off the road, therefore we better look for other reasons.
Furthermore, the local dealer is changing the cooper tires for almost all new cars if the customer asks for it. In your opinion why is that?! Does the dealer become generous?
I had a D1 and drove it with BF tires in the sharp rocks and in the road (no noise) and I loved them.
Unfortunately, we have no fitting size to the D3.
Bottom line: let's not become personal and maintain fair dialogue.
