Some players have a low max volume setting. I found a PC gave a good volume though.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Just done this and it works perfectly! The cd player was struggling to play some of SWEMBOs home made CDs so hopefuly this will be the perfect solution.
Now, i have an idea for a blackberry playbook installation...Dave Neil

Hi, i know this is a old post... This was however my project (for the day... shopping included).
I found everything exactly as per the clear instructions and photos. HOWEVER ... the sound is not good, i am getting a ssshhh in the background even if the ipod is not playing.. i suspect it got something to do with ground. Removing the cable the ssshhh stops..
any suggestions or similar experiences?
(my soldering is not perfect but good enouth )

Hi all
I've read all through this thread and many others but I don't seem to be able to find anyone who has fitted the cable from the kick panel to the rear centre console pins that would connect to the iPod connection via a circuit board ?? I could just buy one from maplins but it must of been done just not sure which pin is left, right or earth!!
Any guidance appreciated
Cheers Jonny

Hi all
Sorry for bringing up an old thread but since the information is relevant, I thought it better than creating a new thread.
I noticed a lot of people asking if this only works on basic spec Discovery 3s but I can confirm that it also works on high spec models too. I have a 56 plate HSE with DVD navigation and the modification I've done works.
I found the info in this thread and also a vid on YouTube showing how to add another Aux connection
I took the headunit out and found the same 3 wires on the back of my headunit, granted with a few (a lot!) more wires too.
So, I had a look for a female 3.5mm Aux with a 3 wire connection and found this
So it came today, I cut off the ford plastic connector leaving the pins on the wiring. Then I attacked the dash again, took the headunit out again, identified the wiring and cut the wiring and into a connector block
Test fit, the cables were tidied up and insulated. note the colour of the wiring, this is correct for the L/R & Ground connections. I left the old cables to the other Aux connections out as I just don't need them.
