"The World" to which you refer happens to be your fellow forum members. The "big mouth" happens to be a fellow forum member who you are presecuting for being helpful. Nice!

I remember when I had that number of posts, and that movie was in black and white!!!
My view is stop doing it.
A couple of times I have been watching or bidding on an item, then someone posts it on here. Then the bidding goes silly. I'm not saying that it is because it has been posted on here, but I'm sure it doesn't help, especially if the item has been listed badly on ebay.
Also, "Bidding On This" posts are pointless, it's an auction, bid what you are willing to pay then if you are outbid, tough. I'm not going to refrain from bidding on an item I want cos someone's posted "I'm bidding on this". You're probably better keeping quiet about it.
Just my humble opinion The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us yet.

might be easier to have people post what they are looking for in the wanted section, maybe in a list or something, then if the eBay bargain is spotted and you feel like a helpful fellow
PM the ones looking for it, so its not in the open forum for all to see
No chance of starting a bidding wars
If those who would have wanted it, didn't see it, they should have looked harder

So is it an issue with the fact that the site doesn't generate any money from the e-bay links?
Personally, I see no difference to a link to e-bay or to autotrader or to Aldi or to any other bargain that could be useful for all.
There are MANY bargains to be had, some are forced up perhaps because they are advertised here, but then again, it's a great opportunity for people to get something that they may not have had the time (or need withoiut it being offered) to search for.
Take the RRS wheels & MTR's that amethley just bought, that was e-bay link advertised on here and it was then sold BIN. I'm sure he's glad that it was put up on here.
Take the autotrader D3's that at least one has been bought by a member on here & others warned off of some which didn't look so good.
The fact the link is here has been very useful for some.
DiscoStu had a great bargain with his towbar & electrics, (all that time ago.... ) but he was there at the right time & was able to buy it.
I think that stopping e-bay links (and let's face it, you should stop ALL external links advertising if that's the case) is a really negative stance and I'm really not sure of the overall benefit of doing so if I'm honest, other than the few people who have low morals after spotting someone else saying they're watching something and then bidding for it. I think most people wouldn't do it (esp when their ebay names are so similar to their forum names.....)
So my vote clearly is LET E-BAY LINKS (and others) REMAIN!Misuse of mod rights/freedom of speech you evil dictating overlords...

As Snowy said
Took me 6 months to get a tow-bar. I finally got one when no-one else spotted it - wasn't a bargain, but at least I didn't pay over the odds in a bidding frenzy Sail Fast - Live Slow...
