I must admit that I lack inspiration to visit the site of late just about every post involves bickering or digs, people questioning what others are doing to their car own cars FFS. What happened to live and let live. I would rather see the site close than have it turn into woolly underpants wearing LR forum. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

would it not then be a case of handing over the site to someone else or entertain new mods rather than shut down, perhaps the chance for others to further develop the appeal of the site/forum in a more commercial way without loosing the everyday appeal?
I'm sure martin I speak for hundreds here, this site is a valuable resource for fellow disco3 owners to share experiences along with a valueable tool for the techs, dealers and LR themselves (have it be on the QT).
I'm sure if you close the site down you'll be unlikely to want to sell the domain name FOC, so in the end it would boil down to the good old money issues.
Without wishing to offend, your lack of presence may, in part, might be down to other of life's commitments and as the site has grown in popularity your lifestyle balance has tilted away from disco3 rather than the site itself.
Perhaps time to allow the site to develop in other ways and including the emerging disco4

Found this thread just after Slimer posted but decided not to comment. But........after 2 D1's, no D2 and now a D3 I suspect I'll jump a facelift generation and wait for D5. This site was one of the reasons for buying a D3 because it was informative and honest and also looked like a fun site where opposing opinions were respected. SWMBO thinks I've become a forum nut but the info here helps me understand more about the D3. OK so LR are launching a D4 later this year, opinions on how it looks and performs will differ but hey, that's what makes life more interesting. When the D3 first came out I thought it looked like a bread van compared to D1/D2....but it's a very capable bread van and I'm very attached to mine
So where next, please keep the D3 site, folk will evolve to the D4 but as I see it it's still a D3 with 3litre engine and a few more fiddly bits
As it says. One life so lets live it (and let live)

This isn't the site it used to be ...high earners wallowing in the glory of their new D3 ....now even peeps who are on the dole own a D3
Exactly What I always thought there DG, more senior established members/Mods thought this. Remebering you dont need to be a high earner or a director/company car to own one. Just save your pennies and buy whatever you want, and it always gets up peoples noses when you do get something with little effort when others turn to robbing the bank manager or on the never never
But, then do I take off ALL my forum stickers then , is there any need to advertise a forum thats possibly closing , and/or can I ask for my Hi Vis pre order to be cancelled as that too will advertise a non existing site.
I canny see the point in this thread, apart from the reaction its getting, and the backlash it will continue to receive. What is the point, is the D3 still not in production, on the forcourts, and on the salemans books.
There is more than enough room for both D3 and D4, for them both to co exist under Martins ownership, and for those who buy a D4, and enter the D4 forum, it will be a lonely time for a while.
Get a grip guys, look at how many users are to this forum. Another thread that stirred up reaction that was needless.
Jason MacLeod - D3 owner and happy with it. No HP, not a company car, owned outright, happy with it, love progression/evolution, hate dictators, and ignore provocative people and comments

Yes but you don't really need a specific day for fools Del ....it applies to some everyday of the year 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Martin made a good point about freeing the LR3 name up in the states for use by other models, I guess that what the 7 seat Freelander will become.
That would make long term naming of this site interesting if in a couple of years time they sell a new LR3 in the states, but badge it as a Freelander over here.
As for this site, the technical input and information amasses over the years is IMHO too import just to loose. you could make a good reference site/book from it. This is to say nothing of the camaraderie generated.
In the end it's one bloke call so it matters little what we all say, there are other forums or clubs out there, some good, loads that are cr p but it's not the end of the world.
As for the D4, It is progress, I hope they sell millions, and at some point I'll buy one.

Would be a shame to close it down. The D4 is not out until next year anyway and even then it will take a while for people to migrate. They will also gain from the problems solved on here, most of it is the same anyway.
It is a shame of late that there has been some bickering for no apparent reason other than a clash of personalities. I think this is more detrimental to the site than the D4 could ever be.
As for the mods, tough job I think. Wouldn't be keen to do it myself, so difficult to be critical as unless you do it it's difficult to comment. Whatever you do you going to upset the poster or the person complaining.
Although that DG chap is strange

Me strange ? Wouldn't have it any other way TBH
The biggest single problem here now as I see it is the loss of the sense of humour and the ability to look at peoples comments with some irony without everyone getting so bloody serious. Provocative comments are always best dealt with in a light hearted, tongue in cheek manner IMO.
.............and don't dish it if you can't take it !
Now ...................back to plotting the site shutdown 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
Martin could run an auction - winner to throw the off switch - make a final few bucks.

The best comment in ages
To me, MacLeod 313, I miss the end of week rants, the humour, tonge in cheek back rubbing. ITS ALL GONE. Please take no offence, but the influx of really newbies have come along and diluted the site, even I get tired of repeating myself with time old questions. This site is great!!!!!!!!dont let it go
And yes, I agree, DG is strange
