If you want full infotainment/nav performance, don't order your new D4 until August......
"Please note: 'turn by turn' navigation commands and MP3 CD track information will be available from September 2009 production."
Why do Land Rover seem to always manage to release a new vehicle with bits that don't work......
...and they are already mentioning a 10.5MY vehicle..............

CY wrote:No 17" rims any more?
Very interesting read though, thanks Neil
I see that in 5.1 (3.0 TDV6) it states "larger brakes and 19" wheels" and in 10.6 (subset of 10 MY10 RRS) it says 19" rims minimum for TDV6 3.0 due to larger brake discs and callipers.
I'm very keen to know if the D4 gets the lower profile calliper announced elsewhere that suggested a smaller rim than the 19" of the previous RRS would fit and therefore 18" would fit. The 2.7 D4 gets 18" rims so either they are fitting the old brakes with these engines and going up to 18" even though they will take 17", or it gets the new larger brakes but 18" rims just as a marketting differentiation. Hopefully the idea is that 19" tyres are more up-market than 18".

I think you can order a locking rear diff and sunroof. My dealer offered me the diff on an HSE with standard sunroofs. I think that's a mistake in the pricelist. Same as the surround cams not being available on an HSE. 2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Regarding this issue of locking rear diff and sunroof, I sent an email to LR Product Management, and here's the reply I got:
"Thank you for your enquiry. I understand this rather strange situation is down to a build up of weightvs a specific limit, rather than a direct technical relationship."
So sad but true, no rear diff and sunroof at the same time. Amazing and hard to believe.

I am really struggling to get the D4 to stack up to replace my manual D3 SE. Putting the gearbox issue aside for a while:
-£40k GS does not get xenons as standard - ok I can buy them even the SE had them as standard when I got mine; and
-£40k GS does not get the option of electric seats and driver's memory at all.
So if I want memory seats (and I do) its £47k for a HSE. Sorry but even with 10% off that's to much money for me to justify on a D4. My D3 is nearly four years old and has done under 40k miles and is worth £14-15k. Time to keep it another four/five years. Sorry Land Rover but you are putting the D4 out of reach for me. 2014MY Discovery

In fact the more I read the price list the more it looks like its geared to people buying top of the range or bottom of the range. I just can't understand why I would pay £43k after discount for an HSE for it to be worth £18k after three years; ie £25k in depreciation. Madness!
Surely better to keep a D3 and use the money to buy a summer car as well? Or just save the cash and spend a bit on TLC for a D3? 2014MY Discovery

I'm not looking either, I'll just get disgruntled and bad tempered as I have to wait even longer for a D4 - until the 2nd hand market hits the ground, so that'll be c 2011ish....... It's a huge amount to shell out for a Bert Mobile (that's my chocolate Lab and the current D3 is his preferred mode of transport). Mercedes SLK 280

I wouldn't mind; quite useful when reversing up to a loaded (i.e. too heavy to push) trailer by yourself to get the towbar lined up. Andrew
