Randomly going nowhere in 'Drive'

Ok,
So the Disco has started to not engaging Drive when D selected, take it out, pop it back in and off I go...
but.....its starting to get more frequent and did it on one occasion when I'd stopped to let someone out (i.e. it had been in drive ok ) rather than from setting off

Odd ?

any ideas clever peeps apart from its trousered Laughing

Think it's something to do with the external selectors [whatever the heck that means] Rolling Eyes
[might mean the bit between the gear lever and the auto gearbox????]

its still under warranty, should I just give it back to the dealers or will they fleece me for 'wear & tear' as they did for my brake pads front and back at the last service ? ( 18,000 miles, I must be able to outbrake Lewis Hamilton ! )

So at least it seems I was there or there abouts in my diagnosis.

It could be that the shifter mechanism is going. I had problems getting the transmission to engage after selecting D and eventually it also stopped selecting sport mode. Had it replaced under warranty.

It's a known problem with part of the selector mechanism. Your dealer should sort this under warranty.

Last Friday, drove to T&C Aberdeen with the gears getting worse and they booked me in for the next day, on the way home it jumped out of drive and wouldnt go back in, I managed to coast to a stop in a safe place and ended up calling out Landrover assistance Embarassed

I spent the next 25 mins faffing with the selector and eventaully got it into D, I limped back to the dealers and cancelled the call to LA. T&C found a courtesy car for me there and then and off I went, picked it up the next day sorted, cleaned and valetted !!

T&C get some bad press from time to time but I must say I was very impressed with the service, politeness and the prompt response, credit where credits due and a big 'up' to T&C Aberdeen Thumbs Up

BIG THANK YOU TO GREENBAMK 4X4

last thursday i was booked into Greanbank 4x4 as i had the same issue , it a bushing / insert on the gear slector rod/wire.

theres a thread on here about it , ill try and edit it here.

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic31656.h...r+selecter

Greenbank 4X4 took 20mins to do the job from start to finish, and only charged me a half hour rate .
drives like a new car again, wierd thing is it also stopped a slight delay in the throttle response too Razz
so total was £31.67 (£25 + parts and vat)

called T&C just to see what they would have charged , they quoted" its a 2hr job " and it would be around £150

i promised my self i would never use T&C after they made 2 wrong diagnosis and damged my car twice while in for agreed presale fixes of things i noted.

Now booked in for a service at Greenbank 4x4 and a lottttttttttttttttt cheaper than T&C
I have enough money to last me the rest of my life.Unless i buy something..

I had same problemo.....

Dealer just adjusted something in the auto selector (took minutes) FIXED......
see other mail.........that worries me that something that is an "adjustment" can cause the Drive function to go "Bits up"
 BREXIT - done properly.
