ah ok, ill give it another go.

And yes the numbers are full size.

I did read that it could be down to the reverse bulb? is this correct?

If you have the digits displayed correctly and reverse lights working then it's unlikely to be the XY, which is why I was suggesting diagnostics. Thumbs Up

If the bulbs are ok it's back to the XY sensor it seems. Diagnostics are your best move if you can't reset it manually

EPB fault - of course!

Morning all.

For two days now my EPB will not release and I can't drive it anywhere. Message comes up as 'EPB Fault' on dash with the red and amber lights plus the sing song ding dong. There is no squealing, it just won't release! Very frustrating.

I have a 2007 SE automatic. Any help gratefully received!

You may need to pull the emergency release cable.

This will release the park-brake, and you may be lucky that it will re-engage, but suspect you will need to re-wind and re-latch it.

Plenty of info available if you search. Thumbs Up

Great - thanks for the info. As long as I avoid even more expense on the damn thing!

I was wondering if you managed to get you faulty EPB to release? I have the same problem now but mine is not down to it getting jammed up. I have had the thing apart more times than I care to swear about and it is now adjusted and running smoothly....until the other day when it would not release. I have a diagnostic tool and managed to get that to put it in service position so I could get home. It said it had a switch fault, I had a spare anyway that I knew was good so I swapped them over but still no luck. I am guessing it may be a wiring fault but just wanted to check first to see if anyone else had suffered similar and save me hours of prodding?

I had a similarissue, it was realted to the swith, but the wiring going into the EPB itself, the outer insulation had split on two wire and the copper cable had corroded. 5 min repair and all good again

Hi, I'm really hoping someone can help me with an issue with my EPB. I've read through as much info as I can until my eyes have gone all boggly and fallen out but I can't see anything specifically to do with what I've done to my poor D3! Apologies if I've missed something that already answers this, but please point me in the right direction if I have.

I've recently replaced the brake discs, pads and handbrake shoes on my D3, however I failed to put the EPB into service mode first. Once everything was back together, I went to apply the handbrake, it wound on so far and then clicked a few times. I immediately realised my error and pressed the button down, which resulted in the handbrake winding off, but the warning lights coming on.

There has been no real screeching as is usually described, only a few fairly noisy 'clicks' and the handbrake isn't jammed on.

Can anyone give me any info on what might be required? (I'm hoping that if I've not done too much damage, I may be able to rectify this without rebuilding or replacing the module)

Many thanks!

Did you follow Bodsys brake bible and adjust the shoes correctly? You can replace the shoes without going into service mode its just harder to do.

Hi, yes it was Bodsy's brake bible that I was following, I *think* I followed it to the letter. It was only when I heard the gears clicking that I remembered reading about service mode.

It is however easily possible that I've messed up something on the adjustment when I've put everything back together, I'm a bit of a novice. Embarassed Neutral
