Parks Land Rover, Ayr. POOR SERVICE |
|
Booked the car in 3 weeks in advance for a diagnostic check due to various error codes. Left the car at 0830 and returned at 1730 to be told they "hadn't had the time". Would have taken the car away and never returned but they promised it would be done the next morning as a priority so left it with them. Phone call the next day to say "we're not going to look at it today either you might as well come and get it"
Shocking service. *rseholes. Hope they go out of business.

I think what we should do when this happens to a member is for all members to phone the service manager and tell them that this service is not acceptable to a fellow LR owner

i like that idea digitaljunior. Even better if everyone phones and books their cars in for a service then not turn up. When they phone to see where you are say "i couldn't be bothered".
I'll definitely be doing that myself -revenge is sweet

So who do you use in the area? Are there any independants that are any good?

Dave T, who do you use? I use an indi in Cumnock but they dont have the tech to finish off Galaxie500 problems. If in doubt............flat out.

So far Shields in Darnley are about the best I have found, bit pricey but compared to Taggarts well cheap (about £50 less for last service) plus I can normally get a curtesy car from them if booking ahead and they have taken mine in at short notice before, and also never quibbled about warranty work.
Not so sure about the parts dept after an enquiry for a thermostat, especially after speaking with the parts god (TLO).

Dave, tbh any of the parts dept I've tried (including all the SW Scotland dealers) are useless compared to TLO. If in doubt............flat out.

I've used an independent LR garage, Whites auto service, in Edinburgh a couple of times. They have always been very knowledgeable and friendly. They cleaned and adjusted the EPB and have supplied a new battery.
They are 5 mins walk from the city centre so easy enough to waste some time while waiting for the car. Drove over from Glasgow rather than use the Glasgow dealers.
