Thanks Winger - I will point them at the second issue as well.
I called LRA and told them that the vehicle is unsafe to drive with the faults and they are coming to recover the vehicle very shortly. They are providing a hire car from Enterprise, so hopefully they can fix this and get it back to me soonest.
I've had Land Rovers for over 25 years and nothing appears to have changed; great cars, but not particularly well put together.

Thats why they are a laughing stock here in OZ.
I have also had them for the last 18 years.......but, unless i win lotto, this will be the last one.
Too unreliable and too expensive to keep going. Pete

Reactive, as in "not a lot of point going to the tyre shop to tell them you're there because you might get a puncture"!

Now slightly amused  - The replacement vehicle arrived as advertised; a Freelander diesel Auto with 400 miles on the clock - Pity the electric seats didn't work. I'd have to have been a 7 foot stick insect with interesting spinal curvature to reach the wheel, let alone drive safely. How Enterprise managed to drive it here beats me..... Now, 6 x 30 amp fuses later, the seat is in a useable position but I'm unable to adjust it as my supply of 30 amp fuses has run out.
I wonder if Land Rover read this website - perhaps a little more care in putting the cars together might be in order !!!!!

Call LRA - the Freelander must be covered too! This could be the first time anyone gets a replacement for a replacement....

Ummmm......actually No....last year I had a FFRR replacement for my Defender which had 500 miles on it and it went into limp home mode and every effort by LRA failed to get it going so it was dragged off and replaced by a Land Cruiser Amazon from SHB Hire  2011 D4 Landmark, Mini Cooper SD Clubman, Range Rover Vogue SE

Our Discovery 4 also has this reduced performance problem, usually when my wife is about a minute into the school run, then having to finish the ten mile journey at low speeds. Will get it booked into LR dealer to sort this and a couple of other problems out.

Just got the same on my D4, 4500miles, Restricted performance and red triangle. Came on less than a mile after starting for first time of the day. First problem with this otherwise great car.
LRA contacted, AA man on his way.... will update on outcome.

Not very helpful, but have a look at xfforum.co.uk - and this is a common problem on Jag XFs with the same engine. Some have been told it's turbo related, and the parts aren't in stock. With others, it clears up after a restart and doesn't come back.

Me too !! First time on Friday as setting off on a 300 mile journey to Scotland. Second time yesterday, in the same place about 1 mile from home. Both very cold mornings. Pulled up and turned the engine off, waited for a few minutes, problem cleared. Will be booking into dealers after holidays !!

Well don't want to tempt fate, but problem seems to have cleared itself. Have used several times and have not had anymore trouble. Lets hope it stays like that. Ended up cancelling LRA request. Common factor seems to be the cold, but was only a couple of degrees below.
Used snow mode today going through foot deep stuff, performed very well.
