had a strange one today?... had the trailer on and outward trip no problem, on the way back got an 'engine fault' message and the car in 'D' woulnt change from the gear it was in. managed to navigate the gears using the tiptronic and then a message came up saying hdc fault, the yellow warning lights came on, and 'lowering suspension' activated.
pulled over a couple of times, turned off and back on...same happened, but eventually noticed in 'enforced lowered mode' the 'd' started to change gear. Great if you fancy driving home with a 3T trailer in low mode!".... eventually once i got back in various configurations of manual/auto shifting... i unhitched the trailer and everything seems to be working ok!
has anyone else experienced this, and is there a reason?

Could that be the brake switch fault, try doing a search along those lines. Now driving BMW 330d Touring....misses D3...but not when at traffic lights
