So too put a green oval Land Rover badge on top of a pile of , does that mean all Land Rovers are or was it just your D3, how many Land Rovers have you owned, all the models? just a few? or just a D3. I think the car recognised that you would be more suited to a Volvo and rejected you by playing up. Club Pie n Pea

The XC90 is not a bad car. I tested one about 5 years ago and was quite impressed. The downside was the engine. While it was powerful enough, it was a bit gruff and made me think I was in a London Taxi rather than a car. It is beginning to show its age against other SUVs.

seriously....wtf?
A bit sensitive are we? Cant blame some people for thinking they are when a £40K vehicle breaks down so often! leaves a bitter taste in your mouth. 2014 D4 XS

I see i've annoyed somebody with my avatar. It was an expression of disgust with my particular car. Don't take it personally. I am jealous of those that have one which works.
The XC90 has moved on alot in the last 5 years. I used to own an 05 plate and it wasn't very good. Too slow and crap gearbox. This one is much better with the upgraded engine and manual box although the current auto is very good. I had no choice on spec of this one as it was a cancelled order but would have taken an auto if i could. The manual is very good though. It's taken a while to get used to the engine not cutting out every time i put the clutch in. And i keep forgetting to put the handbrake on cause i was so used to not having one in the D3.

Nothing is worse than spending a load of your own on something that everytime you get in it you think 'I've just made the 2nd most category expensive purchase in my life and I think I've made the wrong decision'
Touch wood - so far been relativley lucky
Good luck with the Volvo

Ive done the same really, sold the D3 (no problems with it tho) and purchased a V70 D5 AWD.
My problem wasent a disco that broke down every two miles, but a Mrs that snarled at it every day.
In the past three months ive swapped and sold 4 cars, im sick of it!
Had to buy a car to replace my old s40 after the Mrs wrote it off, so got a Pug 307 HDI, so far cost me £650 in repairs.
Never ever buy a Pug 307, worst car ive owned and been close to burning it out. 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue.

Unnecessary quote removed
Perhaps you should consider changing the Mrs next time, it may be a cheaper option..... Current:
2014 RRS 3.0 HSE
Porsche 997 GT3
BMW 118d SE
Past:
D4 HSE 3.0 TDV6 Auto
D3 HSE 2.7 TDV6 Auto

I'm on my tenth Land rover. I'm getting shot of a brand new Sport because it's crapped out 3 times already.
Every Land rover I've had has either broken down or caused problems. - except a 97 disco gs that was brilliant.
why do we come back ? who the hell knows but it's not particularily rational. I wouldn't knock the xc90. great car it just looks too wierd from the front. like a frog that's been 'rear ended' by someone called bubba in an arizona lock up.........
that made you think didn't it...........

This post made me chuckle, as a couple of years ago a friend of a friend was in the reverse situation, he had an XC90 that was forever going wrong. He traded it for a D3 HSE & I heard that he has just traded that for a D4 HSE.
I have to admit though that a new XC90 for c.£21k seems like a cracking deal. Might explain why I've seen so many 59 plate XC90's on the school run!
