SF55YPG- Beware

Just traded in my black TDV6 SE after 9 months of complete misery. I am now emotionally and financially drained. The Volvo dealer that took it were fully aware of the problems and when i left it with them it had:
1- no handbrake. 3 month old replacement already broken and unable to give me a date for supplying a new one
2- low range transmission not working
3- special programs not working
4- engine cutting out. Great fun as you drift aimlessly in a 3 ton car with no power steering or brakes. Beats Alton Towers for fun any day.

Just warning anyone who might come across the car for sale to make absolutely sure everything is fixed. On the plus side they will be getting a car with a new clutch, fly wheel, master cylinder, XY switch, and new discs and pads all round. If you do buy it i hope you have a sense of humour.
Thanks to everyone who posts on here for all the info but running a car should not be this painful. Now have a brand new XC90 for half the price of a D4 XS. It might also do the things a car is supposed to do like move forward, stop, turn, and not roll down hills when parked.

Leaving as fast as i can with a smile on my face for the first time in 9 months. I was getting to the stage that any time i thought about the car my eye would start twitching. Now, when i pass one on the road i breath a deep sigh of relief. Couldn't believe my luck when the Volvo dealer offered me book price for the car and sold me a brand new XC90 for £22k. Words cannot express my relief at getting rid of the thing.

Don't particularly like your avatar galaxie500 Evil or Very Mad .....

...... but I can see in your case it's totally justified Thumbs Up

Unfortunately every manufacturer produces a vehicle which is a pile of cr@p now and again!
You unfortunately appear to have had one of Land Rovers finest.

Hope you get more luck with the XC90.
It's always a shame to see forum members go, so 'awra best'. Wink

£22k seems a bit on the low side - even for a base model. Mind you, I wouldn't pay £2.20 for an XC90 Laughing

They'd have to give me more than 22K to take one of their hands Whistle

Although being serious, 22K is a bloody good price for a very capable, albeit slightly boring in my opinion, family vehicle. Thumbs Up

£22k brand new, zero miles from the main Volvo dealer. It's a special edition called the "Active" and it's still fairly high spec. And very cheap to finance cause the residual value remains high. So for the same monthly payment as my 4 year old D3 i'm in a brand new XC90. Don't knock one until you drive it- it's 185 bhp and pulls as well as the D3 but infinitely better on road. I don't do any offroading so that part of the D3 was irrelevant for me. Not quite as spacious inside but it is nice to have a fair sized boot with all the seats up which i need with 5 kids.
Looked at the D4 but hate the front grill and i was quoted £42k for an XS so, yes, twice the price of the XC90. Only other option was a Q7 or GL Merc but apart from being too poor, i dont really like them.
Other bonus of the XC90 is it's not in the higher VED band so road tax is only £210.
I liked the D3- the interior space, the high driving position, the engine (when it worked). It was a nice solid car to drive. But i have absolutely no regrets about selling it. If they were equally priced and equally reliable i would have gone for a D4 but given the deal i feel no shame.
