Retro fit heated front seats |
|
Hi Guys,
I noticed on fleabay a WAECO heated seat retro fit product, has anyone bought one of these and fitted it or had someone fit one for them,I miss the heated seats which i had in My old Pathfinder
At £60 they seem reasonable ,but would they be a bandit to fit??
Cheers

I fitted the Waeco ones to my Discovery 1 300TDi and they worked well. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

I've got a set of Waeco ones; not had a chance to fit them yet. Will give them a go over Xmas.

Easy enough.
These are the steps:
1. take out the seats,
2. take the back and base apart
3. remove trim from back & base cushions
4. fit pads on base and base
5. re-fit trim over seats
6. Waeco Electrical connection - use a fused, ignition sensed, feed (like the Cigarette lighter) - if I remember right it was only something like a 1.5Amp fuse to feed both seats. The Waeco comes with all the wiring, switch etc, you just need to provide a +ve & -ve feed to it and find a suitable position for the two rocker switches (front of the centre cubby on the D1)
Took me an hour for each of the front seats in the D3, but that was fitting the D3 pads, I then had the job of modifying the wiring loom to get the original OEM finish. Alot of work and very expensive in the the end. I think the Waecos for the D1 cost me around £60-75 whereas the D3 heated pads cost that for each seat, then I had to by a loom and HVAC That's not counting the hours of time I spent pouring over wiring diagrams and tracing the connections in the car to work up the courage to chop into the D3 loom.
To be honest, if I got another D3 without heated seats, I'd go for the Waeco ones as the finish is good enough even if the rocker switches look a bit old tech in comparision to the rest of the vehicle. Also, I strongly recommend you invest £15 or so in a hog-clip pliers (see ebay item eBay Item No. 360210114528) - you'll need these to refit the trim onto the seats after fitting the cushions. I'd also recommend getting about 25-30 new hog-clips per seat, it saves the hassle of straightening out all the old ones you have to twist off to remove the trim. LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.
