If your EGRs are showing an engine fault on the dash, and you blank them with a BAS kit, does this fault still show after you blank them? If so, is there a fix D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

On an 09MY, then yes.
However, BAS are working on a fix for the EU4 engine, and should be released shortly, IIRC My D3 Build Thread

No it's not an 09. My current one is fine (so far) It's a 54 plate 05my with the problem. Will the warning go out after blanking?D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

I assumed that as your profile said 09, we were dealing with an 09
It is very unlikely that a faulty EGR valve will show on the dash as a fault, but it is not unheard of.
I assume that only EGR codes were stored, and no turbo/MAP pressure faults were stored?
I have my EGR's blanked, the EGR's are not even fitted to the engine anymore, and have no warnings on the dash.
I would blank them anyway, but it sounds like there may be another fault lurkingMy D3 Build Thread

The codes were read and I was told it was EGR. No mention of anything else. What are the implications of the other faults you mentioned?D3 TDV6 HSE 2008 Buckingham Blue (current)

Today I had the sudden loss of power below 2200rpm 500 miles from home in very hilly countryside lots of 1 in 3's what a mulloch it becomes to drive & mines a manual don't envy you boys & girls with autos at such a time.
I am aware the right egr had been replaced before I bought the old girl.Ha I gave me x2 P140D unknown codes & x1 P140E C Min/max etc the left egr thanks to this forum threads.
Now it's dark & I need to sort it and don't wan't to be loosing bits down where they can never be found so take out the easy bolt loosen the not so easy bolt modify blank as per photo's slide it in drop the easy bolt back in tighten evenly.test run up that hill goes like a D3 should not like the milk pudding it was.I will do the right 1 when back north. Thanks to all the people who bother to give good info.hope this helps others in same situation.[/quote]

EGR or pennies
Prised off the airbox ends of the pipes and superglued a couple of pennies in as a temp measure a few months ago: took 20mins and cost, well...... 2p.
Did the full blanking kit and butterfly valve gynecology trick later - but no further improvement.
Still burning 11.3 l/100km as per pre 2p.
Local dealer will deduct full price of 2 new EGRs and all pipes if trade-in....... Maybe he would not have noticed the 2p's ! Ouch.

How can cleaning the valves repair the little bearings that fall apart.

If there was an issue with blanking, and emissions, we would have found it by now. My D3 Build Thread
Talk to Geoff or Flack, they have a fix.

Hate to ask...
But what does blanking the EGR actually do? and....why blank it when they put it in there in the first place?
What are the downsides to blanking the EGR?
Sorry for the basic questions.
Thanks

Think of it as being forced to eat some of your own just so some can say we produce less . That it causes illness along the way, costs extra money, uses more energy is lost on those who think that this is a good idea.
For vehicles that can be blanked there are no technical downsides, only improvements.
