Next fill up and I've just managed 26.33mpg, I would say 75 of those miles was motorway though.

Personally I've been very impressed with the fuel consumption for such a large vehicle and new engine. I think I'll be hitting an average of 28/29 by the time she's run in.

well had software update and did 268 miles, computer said 25.6mpg real figures turns out to be 23.5. A couple of mpg better than pre software update But then again did a little more dual carriage way work. But the computer is now closer to the real world than before.

looking at the car chart, I had a 520d MY2007 with 163bhp engine and manual box before this, 48.8mpg??? no way!!! same work as what i`m doing in my disco, it returned 32mpg and computer said 34mpg.

But the disco is 100 times better than the 520d

Have had the update done and am getting slightly less than previously, however have bee away for the Easter break with the tin tent and am getting between 0.5 and 0.8 more to the gallon on the trip there and back compared to solo driving!!!!! Suprised to get more to the gallon towing especially as it is a large twin axle caravan, this was brim to brim and worked out figures, not the onboard computer.

D4 @ 38.4mpg - possible on a motorway run

Cambridge to Winchester this pm (m11 m25 m3)

Deliberate economy run @ around (satnav) 55 mph - speedo circa 58/9 and no 'hoofing it'

Comp reading 44.9 mpg (average speed 53.4) actual brim to brim 38.4mpg (no, I wouldn't have believed it either !)

so if you want the ecomony it's there - you just have to back off

Journey took about 20 minutes longer than 'normal' (and actually a lot less stressful)

(post assurance software update)

Have tried Shell's 'expensive' deisel - V-Power (I think). Got a lot more to the tank full than usual. 1,000 miles in the last 10 days and def seeing an improvement as the thing frees up plus it is pulling better/ revving freer. Love it to bits!!

fuel economy seems to be improving after having software updated. just done 465 miles 26.69 MPG some motor way driving at the correct speed limit!! rest of the miles about town. tank brim full to empty refilled 79.20 litres £95 Big Cry still haven't hit the magic 30+ MPG but still ever hopeful.
Still don't understand the trip computer distance to empty never goes over 430 miles with full fuel tank, and seems to drop at the same rate regardless of the speed or driving conditions. My D3 would go up and down as driving conditions dictated just another mystery of the D4. still a great motor. Confused

I too tried Shell V Power diesel for the first time this week, and the computer is saying 33ish instead of the 28ish on ordinary Shell. I shall try to be a bit more scientific after the next fill, and see if this first impression is correct. It is very noticeable that if you stick at about 60 mph with revs below 2000 the fuel economy improves dramatically even with ordinary Shell. But what's the fun in that?

Just had another big journey today to the Lakes and back on another tank of V-Power. Agree that fuel figures are better with it (trying to work out whether the extra 6p per litre is worth it) but the overall performance is noticeably better too especially when you need to hoof it - which you do often on the A65 in traffic! Big smile factor Twisted Evil

Mine has been back in the dealers. They believe there is an issue with th NS egr valve and vacume system. They have been instructed by LR to replace these items initially as a starting point Big Cry but they are on back order Big Cry Big Cry . LR customer service are also involved and the order has been uped to a high priority, will let you know if there is any improvment when new parts have been fitted.

Land Rover for 31 years now. Fuel consumption, when it's empty, fill it up. When I'm driving I never think of Brown and his B*****ds or any other political party. Have fun.

Im managed 280 for the first tank and 310 for the second. This tank is getting more as per mpg (30-27) but i will have to confirm this when i get to empty.
I have been driving the car hard on this last talk so cant really explain the computer readout as being more mpg. My FR2 would do 320 miles to the tank regardless how i drove it.

I am not expecting miracles as i cant help sinking the foot with this thing.

Getting 24.7 average for 2nd tankful.

Had a chat with the dealer - mpg should improve when outside temp is 5deg or above. Apparently there is a fuel burning heater on the cars cabin heater system, this works automatically at 4deg or below - it speeds up the time for the system to blow warm air into the cab.

I am going to calibrate my speedo with a roadangel, if the computer shows 27.7 average and i'm really getting 24.7, then there is a 10% over-read, so if my speedo shows 70 then i'm really doing about 64.

This also impacts on mileometer, in 5 years my 60,000 mile car will only have done 55,000.

Cheers

pete
