PIP, don't look at the Merc or BMW sites, they have more problems. Ours are at least being solved and with a brave new car model. Some of the others are not. The only site that does not appear to have problems is Skoda. The D3 is mainly silly electrical and I am sure I have an answer for most of the problems in that department now as you may have read.
Re compressors, yes they are a fault, but after the factory shutdown, which is right now, they will be in full swing and rectified. That leaves few problems.
The biggest problem then, is what do we talk about on site, other than Waitrose, Tesco's etc. Stick around, the D3 is not bad, it is a Land Rover

thanks for the welcome guys, for everyones info i was looking at a new TDV6SE auto at my local dealers after taking a test drive in an HSE. was quoted £38,000 otr which was about £1000 off list. a little bit over my budget but we were very taken by the spec of the SE. we agonised over an S auto for a week or two but the wife was adamant she wanted leather as it's easier to clean up after the kids. so scanning auto trader twice a day for a fortnight we drpped on the V8 SE at £30000. main dealer with 3700 miles and couldn't say no really. Hi Everyone, this is my first post.
Went to Ottons, Salisbury yesterday to buy some seat covers for my wife's 53 Plate Disco 2 and came out with an order for a D3, HSE, Tonga Green with Alpaca Leather Seats.
I thought while I'm here I'll have a test drive. Fatal mistake, it totally inspired me to make the ultimate action, place an order. Coupled with the fact that it is a quite time of year, it's getting towards the end of the month, new registrations are due and new prices for D3 imminent, the sales guy gave me a keen deal - it was a no brainer.
Not sure of delivery date yet, although I suspect it will be two to four weeks. Meanwhile I'm using the time productively to understand do's and don'ts and garner hints and tips so this site is invaluable.
Although the Disco 2 was predominantly my wife's car, I'm not so sure about the D3, feel I may need to evolve a strategy to address that. So apart from general commuting, running the kids around, the D3 will be used, as was the D2, to support my shooting and fishing pursuits and our interests in exploring all parts of the UK and Europe.
I've just finished a trip around Britain as close to the coast as possible on my BMW R1200GS motorcycle, it was 3116 miles and took 69 hours of riding which I did in 9 days - I feel that a similar trip may be a good way of the D3 and I becoming acquainted.
I'll keep you posted. It's the others.......
