Hello

Been reading all your posts, found them very interesting. I've got a HSEV6 cairns blue. Had the vehicle since Dec, running on off road tyres. We have covered 25000 miles so far. Use the vehicle for carring tools and equipment to sites all over the UK and Europe.
Purchased an expedition roof rack in March when we took the disco snowboarding in France. Build quailty very poor on roof rack, would not want to go on a real expedition with this roof rack. Although it would be handy for carriing a box of matches! Nothing bigger! I tow a trailer alot average fuel 22.3MPG.
Had the following problems, suspension lock out at extreme angles a few times, grinding noise on full lock, pre-heater dont work, in car voice keeps saying sorry every time the ignition is turned on or off, tow hitch working loose, volume control buttons pack up sometimes, rear seat pull cords break easily.
Never the less i would not swap it for anything out there!!!!!!

Hi Andrew, welcome. Good to hear some reality, mine goes into hard work zone in 2 weeks time, once the seat is modified. Take it yours is auto? What size trailer do you tow, in weight? As yours has 19" wheels the tyre availability is much better of course, but do they catch the body on the locks?

Have you worked out what the scraunching noise is yet from the locks.

Hi
Mine is auto, I usually tow a 3.5 tonne twin wheel plant trailer with various loads depending on the works we are doing, must say I prefer the TD5 I had before as a tow vehicle.
I have the 19" Goodyear Wrangler MTR tyres fitted to the alloys that came with the vehicle (oops scratched now). The tyres have never touched the car.
As far as the grinding noise is concerned it does not happen every time I turn just now and then. It sounds like the front uj is about to explode I think it is the amount of lock the disco 3 has, the joints just cant cope. Im going to keep a log of when it happens ie what road surface wet or dry ect then present the info to my dealer. Of course it never does it when they try it.

Andrew, I have a theory that it is connected with the TC, but cannot prove it yet. The Wranglers are good, but do you find them a little noisy? I use them on my 110's and they humm a little. Otherwise they are good all rounders.

Towing the max 3.5 tonne does the D3 swing at all and does the air suspension cope with the shocks that can ocurr, especially on the rear end?

Do you have a tacho fitted, because I have to in some of my 110's as they are over 3.5 tonnes with the trailers, yours must be reaching 6.2 tonnes, well into tacho regs and drivers hours?

BN Yes the Wranglers are noisy at the best of times they seem especially noisy in D3.

The trailer inc load would not usually be above 2.5 tonne with the kit I carry. The Disco seems to cope perfectly fine towing but it just does not feel right some how.

We work on water systems and are classed as a utility company therefore exempt from the taco requirements.

Your lucky about the tacho, because I need to have them fitted to the Disco and it is proving to be a pain.

Re the towing, what are the basic problems you think your having, is it balance or pulling power?

BN I think it is ballance. I have the quick release tow hitch on my D3 I think I may have to get an adjustable tow hitch as the quick release one is quite high.

Sam you have me intrigued now, with that accent in your writing, would you by any chance come from East Europe?
