Had a service done a few months ago. They don't seem that great. Poor customer service, and they complain a lot about Land Rovers. The service guys certainly prefer the Mitsubishi's! They were even worse for parts and accessories. Rarely had prices on hand and had to ask them to follow up to get prices. It all seemed too hard for them to bother.

Hi Jo,
The consensus seems to be that Alice Springs is much preferred, if you have that option.

Yup, the best dealer in Darwin is in Alice. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I was up in Darwin 2 weeks ago and went out with my daughter who is looking for a new car. Its seems that because there is just one of each vehicle franchise they are very laid back and basically know that if you want to buy a Holden, Ford etc etc they believe thay have the market stitched up. When I got to Sydney I rang the Holden dealer at Alice Springs and we saved $1500 right away, including shipping costs to Darwin.
So I think the same mentallity may be at play for servicing Take the road less traveled. Dual battery system.ORS drawers,LR cargo Barrier.ARB Bull bar, side protection bars,Mickey Thompson ATR's 17" rims, Rear wheel carrier, radiator guard TPMS Mitchell Bros Tow Hitch LR RAI Steel Rims , GME UHF, Off Road GPS, Llams (yet to be fitted)

Thanks for your replies, have now booked a service when we get to Alice later this month, it will be about 3K past the 72k mark but I think worth the wait 2007 Zermatt Silver Td6 SE, ARB Front Bar & Safari Snorkel, Mitchell Bros Hitch, FrontRunner Roof Rack, Traxide Dual Battery Kit

Everything is too hard in Darwin, especially customer service. The previous LR dealer was hopeless, I would have hoped that the Mitsubishi dealer would have been better, but that is Darwin. The previous dealer when I was living there, charged me $140 for oil , $65 for air filter on my D2 and quoted me $395 for front mud flaps which I got from Adelaide for $95 delivered overnight. Suttons in Alice are very good, have known them for years and have good service and prices. 2013 D4, E-diff, Vision pack

Just to update my earlier post, had the D3 serviced with Suttons in Alice, turned out to be expensive as by the time I got there the Windscreen needed replacement and the battery was on iits last legs, ,fortunately they had a LR one in stock ($318) also though not due at 72K I had the fuel filter changed as we had been outback for a while, and whilst removing the water sensor the threaded portion snapped requiring a new sensor ($149), their comment was it must have been screwed in too tightly at the last change! They also found all the front prop shaft / differential bolts loose, the front differential had been changed under warranty by S.outhside LR in Brisbane a few months ago.
My only negative observations were
1) They have no diagnostic equipment its away being repaired somewere!
2) With regard to the water sensor they did not have one in stock and there was a 3.30 pm cut off to get one from Melbourne and though they could have advised me earlier it was after 4 when I went to get the D3 that I was told about it which resulted in a 2 day delay leaving Alice instead of next day as planned and as the filter had been fitted without the sensor, when the sensor was available it had to be removed / refitted / reprimed with subsequent labour costs and though asked for no reduction in the same.
So I suppose I can say I was 95% pleased with Suttons which for LR stealers I suppose is good.
I had an earlier service done at Mac LR / Ford in Millicent that I can honestly say was excellent and reasonably priced 2007 Zermatt Silver Td6 SE, ARB Front Bar & Safari Snorkel, Mitchell Bros Hitch, FrontRunner Roof Rack, Traxide Dual Battery Kit

Hi jocurran,
I'm sorry about the hassles that you had in Alice. They are atypical.
Nevertheless, it sounds like they checked your D3 over carefully.
Best Wishes,

After my Fire under "FIRE - FIRE - FIRE" i spent 13 weeks in b Darwin. I have nothing good to say about the NT Auto Group and their Service Managers. It appears everyone has had the same experiences that I did. When I collected my car.... naaa I won't go on.
Just don't beak-down in Darwin. If you are in need of extensive work ship it to Adelaide and fly down. It will be much cheaper and quicker in the long run.
