White one is a UK/Euro spec socket. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Hi all,
Have just finished our trip from Perth to Sydney via Israelite Bay on South Coast of WA traveling about 5,000 km in 3 weeks. The D4 has performed superbly, towing the 1.3 tonne fully laden Kimberley Kamper out to Israelite through deep sand/mud etc. Did the whole sandy bit at 25 psi for the car and Camper using high range. Fuel economy seems to average about 11 to 12 L/100k at 100 kilometres per hour on the highway, but is at its best at about 96 kmh. Consumption on the Israelite Bay track rose to around 15 L/100k. Have also fitted an Andersen plug and have found that the car has a generous capacity to recharge the battery bank in the camper. Have also used the standard LR tow hitch. Will post a pic when I get the chance. So far, am impressed with this car, which has now done 18,500 kms:D Land Rover Series IIA 1967

I wonder if "down-under" you also have the cooler for the "autobox" integrated in the radiator? Because if it gets hot in central Australia, how high goes the temperature of the oil in the automaticgearbox? I put this question in this post because... towing a tintent it probably gets even hotter inside the autobox...
I am thinking of putting an external cooler "LR4-style" , due to the potential coolant migration into the ATF... But what if it stays too COLD in winter [ -20C is possible here...]. In summer I go to Portugal where it can be 47C...
