I could be wrong but it Sound to me like you got the transfer case control module wet
It is located behind the battery
A £230 fix I did mine two years ago
It is well documented about on the forum

I've had this fault crop up in three episodes in the last 18 months but it seems to have been resolved different ways every time.
First time it was kicking off every few days but it went away for 8 months after I "waggled" the wiring harness near the battery box!!
Second time it would occur like clockwork after 45 mins running and this was apparently a duff battery plus alternator fault that wouldn't go away with a new Denso alternator but did with a genuine LR one (!).
These first two episodes both seemed to follow sudden overcharging at 16v after which the voltage on the diagnostics screen sank to 11v.......... and off we went with Christmas lights ets etc.
The last time was a month ago when the only difference was that I ended up stuck in the Low Ratio setting but the gearbox simply sat in neutral no matter what I did with the selector. Suspension dropped as well. fault disappeared next day. I took the car to a LR specialist who checked all block connectors and replaced a coupe of wires. car was checked for leaks. So far so good.
All very odd and drives me nuts.
I am wondering though whether there isn't an underlying problem that's yet to be resolved because throughout this whole saga, and even now, I've noticed that, from time to time, all my interior, panel and front/rear sidelights pulse between bright and dim. The frequency is about once every 0.75 seconds and never varies no matter what the engine speed is. I think this seems to coincide with periods when the car is charging after a cold start or sat in traffic with all my lights on. It seems really odd that all the lights pulse together yet the engine, heater fans, window motors, radio etc all run smoothly.
Not sure it is a bad earth because the LR specialist who had it last checked them all, apparently. And it's done it with 3 different alternators which presumably rules out the regulator.
Any thoughts?

This morning's drama hoping for ideas:
Car was unlocked last nite I opened the left passenger door and the alarm went off, got the key turned it off and carried on!
Went to drive the car and everything has gone mad...
1. Hazard lights on
2. Special program's off flashing
3. Various other error codes
4. An 'E' is displayed in the gear selector display
5. Temperature gauge goes to the top
6. The car won't start
The left passenger door lock was sticking so I waited 1min as per book and that's shut now, but dies not fully unlock when you lock and unlock
I do know that my right rear indicator light blew which I have got a replacement bulb for
Any ideas???????
Hi Im from Puerto Rico and I have the same problem, did you find out a solution? Here we don't have good LR service. ?

abs fault
dont know if will help any one
i had a rear abs sensor go a couple of weeks ago it caused all the same issues as described i. abs fault parking brake fault suspension drop special programs trun off
replace sensor but after about 2 hrs it all started again so back to the garage it went
its been there for over a week how with no probs but got a txt this morning saying he moved it 3 ft and it lit up like an xmas tree
hes now going to rewire and bypass the harness hopefully get it back soon
key thing to watch for to tell if its an abs sensor is if the speedo stops working
hope this helps someone
small update
rewire didn't work drove about 2 mile and failed again so back to the workshop.
mechanic looked grim thinking it may the ecu thats away. not good news as the part is over £600 bfore labour and reprograming
spoke to him today and he told me that the new abs sensor he put in has been chewed up. so its good news in away atleast i dont need to buy an ecu, but we do need to figure out whats chewing the sensor
ill keep you all updated

Hi and thanks for all advice
A stupid question.....if all brake lights lit up when I push the brake pedal can I then rule out a malfunction in that area....and to be very clear by "all brake lights" I mean 3 lights.

2015 Christmas lights
Hi all. I am new to the forum and have almost no mechanical understanding. I have just suffered the multiple faults described in this thread and am looking for an independent specialist in the Lancashire or Liverpool area who can investigate some of the possible solutions posted here e.g. Brake light switch, wiring behind wheel arch, etc
My local garage has not a clue but did tell me there were 47 errors logged and so they suspect a loose connection.
Recently had a new battery fitted and I was wondering if I need a software upgrade or a sensor reset?
Can anyone advise or recommend someone local with LR and electrical understanding.
Thanks
Gary

You would be better off starting your own specific topic.

Feeling everyone's pain!
Well guys I may as well chip in with this, exactly same things as above comments, so far changed fuel filter, rear brake lights, brake light switch. Finally gave in and took it garage that specialises in landys, said the battery is spiking at certain points, they suspected alternator. However said it could be software that needs upgrading, they proceeded to update it. Paid got home and hey presto same faults again. They checked battery for charge etc and it's fine. They did say that if the system upgrade didn't sort it that it would need an alternator! Feel like going outside and smashing the whole car up!!! Is it a case of keep swapping things until they find what it is? [/img]

My 'Big Bertha' is a D3 HSE '07 with 115,400 miles
Help needed for a loss of power and dashboard fault lights. The symptoms are as follows:-
At around 70Mph the Handbrake, DSC and Suspension Warning Indicator icons all come on (see photo). At the same time messages appear saying 'Transmission Fault Limited Gears Available' - 'Park Brake Fault' and 'HDC Fault System Not Available' - then power starts to drop and the car slows down.
I pull over and switch off and on again and all seems to be reset and off I go. This can be repeated and can be replicated when I select 'Sport Mode' and accelerate.
I don't know if this is related but when I park up, switch off and lock the doors there is a sound of compressed air blowing out of tanks, is this normal?

Re: Multiple fault lights
I have exactly the same issue, the wet seemed to cause the issue to re-occur. Low fuel pressure followed by the fuel filter change, did 183 miles and it cam back!! 20 minutes prior to this problem for the first time the height sensor on the nearside front faulted out giving a suspension error! Is this simply a wiring issue with faulty connectors/damp ??

Hi guys
Been a happy Disco3 driver for past 6 years, 258K kms since new, with very few hassles. Have always serviced at LR service centre but all of a sudden things are going wrong and I'm getting frustrated with LR who cannot clearly diagnose the problem.
Similar to other posts:
Car lights up like a xmas tree, suspension lowers, traction lost. F in km window. Messages:
suspension lowered
transmission fault
limited gear available
hdc fault
system not available
(low coolant level)
Symptoms similar to EGR sensor problems in the past (replaced 3 times).
Service centre only seeing communication errors from external sensor and suggest fuel pump replacement (very expensive). Definately not EGR.
Car returned to me on Friday and drove in sunny 20 degrees for past 3 days - no issues.
Returned to the Centre today for coolant resevoir replacement (and stupidly told them the problem had disappeared over the weekend).
Drove home in the rain and WHAM - I'm hit again with the same issue 45 minutes into the journey. Frantically head for the hard shoulder in peak hour traffic, shut down & start up, problem clears. Can happen 1 to 6 times over 20 minutes.
And service centre guys are telling me to go Google the problem! Now I'm going BEZERK!
So I hope you can give me some friendly sensible advice? From previous posts where do I start ?
- brake light switch ?
- ride height sensor?
- battery ? (never replaced in 6 years!)
- water getting into electrics?
- fuel pump?
Peter

Could be one of the following
1 ecu behind the battery duff
2 wiring loom from ecu to xy switch faulty
3 xy switch faulty (maybe dirty magnet)
Getting the switch out is awkward to say the least. You need to drop the rear gearbox support bracket to give you room to get the switch out. Most of the time you are working by feel . Watch Mikey do on the ground. Just be careful that you do not dislodge the breather pipe on the top of the gearbox or you will have oil all over the place. Hope this helps.
