Hi to everyone on this great website,
I have just returned to SA after many years in Europe and brought a Disco 3 that I bought in the UK with me to Mosselbaai. The vehicle still has its factory fitted 19" rims with Goodyear Wrangler M+S tyres on it which have done only about 17,000 kilometers. My Disco friends have advised that I should change this to no more than 18" wheels since I want to get into off-road mode and enjoy this beautiful country of ours. I am therefore looking for someone interested in doing a swap of my 19" wheels for a set of 18" ones, including the spare of course. I am also looking for a reliable 4x4 fitment center in my area. Any ideas will be much appreciated.

Hi Barry, welcome to our area. You looking for a excellent 4x4 fitment center then try LA Sport in George, Tel # 044 878 2111 or Norman on his cell 083 278 0957. I have known him for ages and he has done most of my add-ons. (This is not a commercial add!)
Mention my name.

Thanks for the responses Frans & Ren. I will certainly get in touch with Norman at LA Sport, I checked their website and it looks very comprehensive.

Heine, I have noticed that on some of the threads. Not sure I understand the advantage of 17" over 18". Can you elaborate please.

The more rubber, the more the tyre can follow the terrain resulting in better grip and less tyre and rim damage. Roel

Also you will find a bigger more freely available range of off road tyres in 17 " . Remember a smaller rim means a bigger tyre size which also allows for a bigger footprint when deflated for sand and mud driving

Thanks again for the responses, at least those in point. I will be hunting for the 17' or 18' rims then.

Hi Barry, if you haven't already swopped the 19" rims, I may be interested in buying them. Are they from the HSE? Do you have pictures and are they in good condition?
