Premium Navigation - but no TMC!!
Hello colleagues,
First of all - what a website!! I love it, my wife really hate it... The time i spend reading information here is increasing dramatically!! You never seem to get enough of interesting tips and hints.
I bought my D3/2006 this summer in Germany and it is a HSE. It should have Premium Navigation installed, but there is no TMC installed and the 4x4 info screen is not shown. The car is heavily loaded with "Ausstattung" and the original german owner must have gone a little crazy when checking out wanted extras...
Therefore it seems rather odd that the TMC should be missing! I checked the configutation menu from the system at it says : "TMCNotInstalled". Can it be a question of activation! The car has voice recognition which I think comes with the the Premium Navigation.
Can anybody help me out?
Gosh I love this vehicle
Best regards
Johan

Welcome to the site
Normally cars abroad ( from the UK ) are speced one down ..so a HSE ..would be an SE ...
That would explain why you havent got the TMC and 4x4 .
4x4 can be enabled .
TMC can be enabled ...but you would also need to fit a TMC module , TMC antenna , some wiring .
Dealer cant do them ...you would need someone with a faultmateG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Thanks wiggs, interesting obersavation.
Though I'm sitting here with the original German brochures that specifies HSE-model is delivered with:Premium DVD-navigation system with touch screen, TMC, Speechrec., Off-road-nav, 4x4 info system.
So I wonder what happened!
From the age of 17 I have been messing with old jags and this is a typical case where your brain gives you a clear answer, but nevertheless your heart really, really hope you overlooked something and everything is just peachy - know that feeling

Hi Johan,
Don't know if it would help, but mine is also a HSE (German one) and I have the Premium Navigation incl. TMC and the 4x4 info coming as standard. The only one difference is that mine is 2007 HSE.
I checked the '06 price list and there were two options. The first one is the DVD navigation with touch screen, and the second the PREMIUM one with all the other gadgets.
Regards
Gerd

It is so easy to tell if you have TMC physically fitted or not.
Lift the rear tailgate and pull off the top centre trim.
If you have TMC fitted, you will have a small Red module located to the left side with a wire plugging it onto the rear screen glass antennea. Like this

Thanks guys, but of course there was no TMC installed - and judging from the threading in the mounting hole - one
has never been fitted. I the right side is a unit with the code XUC000072A probably a small antenna amp!
So with my hopes in ruins - is it at all realistic to find a TMC unit second hand?
Thanks again for the qualified feedback both from Uk and mainland
Regards Johan

The one on the right side is the FM diversity amp, not fitted on a Lo line vehicle.
I am guessing that on the left your glass has the currently un used stud on it.
Retro fitting TMC is really not such a big deal, and recently i had enough bits to make up a kit for someone.
You need the following
A TMC unit which bolts to the rear quarter near the BT phone module
A length of fibre optic cable and a plug that allows you to break into the optical loop going to the phone modue and also loop in the TMC module.
A Red TMC antennea amp that bolts into the upper left tailgate location shown.
A few meters of coax cable to go between the TMC module and the TMC antennea amp and SMB connectors for each end
A standard lucar type spade to supply the TMC with power that can be tapped into from the suppy to the phone module.
Lastly and most importantly, a Blackbox Solutions Ltd MSV2 system or someone who has one to enable the TMC in your vehicles CCF data. This is still the only system that can do this.
If you do not know exactly what the CCF data is, don't worry, neither did anyone else on this board until i introduced them to it and the benefits of being able to read edit and modify it not so very long ago.

I'm currently waiting for parts to arrive for the FBH remote solution.
The TMC retro fit doesn't scare me so it you should come upon the parts for an installation - I'm on...
Don't thing the blackbox system is widely used in Denmark - but i would absolutely be interested one. The SV122 Kit looks like the one for me. It needs a PC right?
I see the CCF file is where it all happens - that I need to learn...
Thanks again for the nice picture that cleared the matter - have been trying to get that plastic cover
back on - not easy in rain, wind and danish darkness... (bet the frost will arrive the same day I receive Webastu
