My Dealer fixes all the same faults on RRS too . Lots of front end , some EPB , Canbus glitches ..........
you know it all ...............
Due to tax rates and German Marques , not too many RR over here , so the Dealer wasn't
able to offer a view on that . Our sister-site is a source for info . Nearly all RR and RRS are
leased , so it's easy to cut and run on rubbish/lemons. I'd like to know the rate of repeat
LR leasing. I bet it's not high compared to the Merc , BMW and Audi brigade.

I agree with the reliability issue, thats why I had to bite my toungue and buy a Landcruser, what a tough off road truck ! I have swaped the unreliable stuff for not so good on road handleing but as its just for trips out bush and a bit of normal use I am delighted. I have got a Scan gague which can read loged faults as well as lots of other stuff and it has not loged a single fault whereas the D3 when it went ti the dealer would log at least a foolscap page of faults. So its up to how much you can put up with for the comfort and performance of the D3. For me I had had enough.
Cheers

Good Luck Mark!
I loved my D3 and it was pretty well peerless off road. Admittedly it was a 2005 model, but the Cayenne cost me ~50% more and the actual cash cost in total has been less over the last 6 months than for the D3 over any similar period.
My main issue, though, wasn't with the car, it was with the dealers in WA. Poor product knowledge, poor attitude. A good dealer would have probably saved me half the money I spent and I'd have bought a D4/RRS or FFRR. A Perth dealer knew I had sold the D3 but none of the salesmen could be bothered showing me through an FFRR!
The D3 was a good (fixed up) car by the time I sold it, but I had enough of the 'Land Rover Experience'!!! Have a nice day!

Sounds like the average realestate person Jamo I couldn't believe how disinterested they were in
a seven figure cash buyer , but then , Toyota couldn't care less about changing my LC100 for a LC200.
I was going to pm you for an update on the Cayenne ; I'll take it as read that you're happy ?

Well.. I'm still here at the edges.
Have been a non D3 driver for nearly 3 weeks now. Love my new Holden Cruze diesel. Around 30 MPG around town.. wow!
We were originally going to replace my wife's Z4 BMW with a Freelander HSE diesel in December. But after all the drama with the D3 we figured that LRA don't need any more of our money.
So.. we figured a BMW X3 would be good. But no.... the lady of the house loves the Cruze so much that we are going to get another one. Identical.
How about that.. 2 new diesel 6 speed autos for $60K. That's great.
We'll even get cash back on the Z4. (it's got a low odo reading)
So.. any problems with the Cruze... well the "Diesel" badges on both front doors are crooked.. so I peeled them off.
Just love it.. and it really rocks too. Much faster the D3 in acceleration.
We'll see how it goes in the long term.
Cheers

Please, please - I depend on you. Keep buying $100k cars so I can buy them a few years later , still in warranty, usually immaculate kept and serviced for 60%, or less and then enjoy them from there on. You can even buy an extended warranty for piece of mind.

Yes... the 100 grand car is not me me any longer. I'd rather drive something cheaper and put more into my super fund. I mean.. I don't mind the 100K car.. but quality is an important issue for me now.
And reliability as well. Did I mention reliability?
At night I could be in my bed and hear the bloody Land Rover breaking down in the garage.
Cheers

Yes.. I know where you're coming from on the super thing.
As an aside.. I have been reading a book written in 1987 about the rise and fall of the British Motor Industry. It is interesting to note that when Jaguar had a BIG PROBLEM with quality issues in the 70s they noted that 60% of all failures were in outsourced components.
So thinking D3.. ZF transmission, difs, air suspension compressors etc.
All outsourced.
For that matter the engine is outsourced too!
Perhaps they should outsource the entire car!
Cheers

Have a mate who is a Boeing Pilot. Doesn't like Airbus aircraft.
He once told me that my Land Rover was like an Airbus. Hi tech, unreliable but unlike an Airbus.. no paying passengers to offset the running costs.

Well this little black duck is heading to bed to get up early and head to Grafton to pick up my brother in law. And then meet Jonesy63 in Bourke for 2 weeks of outback travel as we make our way through the desert and up to Darwin. Jonesy and B-I-L will then drive back to Sydney and I will head to Singapore, D3less
Will catch you all when I work out the internet in Singapore.
Thanks to everyone on the forum and to those people how have let me lead them into the scub and thought I knew where I was going and what I was doing and to those that allowed me to follow them. It's sounding like the 5K in servicing costs I have spent in the first 6 months of ownership of my second hand D3 should be expected to continue then.
