Electric sunroof not working |
|
My sunroof has started to leak as i found out just now when i went to go to the shop. Head lining soaked at front and dripping from LED where interior lights are. Problem is my electric sunroof doesnt open, is there a manual winder anywhere so i can get it open (havent used the sunroof for a few months so didn't realise it had stopped working) Have checked the fuse and its fine, power going to it, power at switch as well so confused

Try the sunroof calibration procedure
Quote:Sunroof calibration
Under some circumstances (i.e. if the battery is
disconnected), the sunroof position may need
to be recalibrated. The sunroof position is
recalibrated as follows:
1. With the battery connected, turn the starter
switch to position ll.
2. Press and hold the front of the switch for
20 seconds. The sunroof will start to
move.
Continue to hold the switch until the
sunroof completes one full open and
closing cycle. When the sunroof stops
moving, release the switch.
The sunroof can then be operated as normal.
Note: Calibration will not function if the battery
voltage is low. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Thanks Woody. I had a new alternator fitted at last week (after breaking down on the M6) & today my sunroof wouldn't close !!! After about 5 attempts it finally closed bu then wouldnt open. Again I had noticed water dripping from the LED yesterday.
Anyway got home & straight onto the forum and fixed in no time. Saved me a load of hassle and probable expense at the stealers.
This forum is awsome

Saw this thread a couple of days ago and just skimmed it, today sun roof stopped working! Aye aye I thought I know where to look! Found this thread, done as suggested and lo and behold back to normal operation.
Thanks for the advice posted here and on all the other threads.

The calibration procedure will only fix the sunroof opening and closing, so unless the sunroof is not closing fully you will need to follow Gareth's thread on how to fix a sunrrof leak or book it in with the dealer - I couldn't do the fix myself because of my health and the dealer quoted me a very reasonable price but in the end did not charge me. 1996 Discovery 1 300TDI ES Biarritz Blue, sold

Jeez - found mine not working last week, too 'scared' to go back to the dealer as once they have it 'it's never the same when it comes back'
Anyway I have put it off then I saw this & by heck, it worked
This site amazes me

sunroof now closed
My sunroof stuck half open today but after the 20 sec reset trick all back to normal. It was probably the first time I'd opened it since an alternator change a few weeks back which seems to be a common cause of the problem. Forum to the rescue........again.

Many thanks for this thread.
Left my sunroof open overnight [yes it rained] went to close it and it only partially closed!!
20 second hold of front part of switch, with key in position 2 and then wait through full cycle of both opening movements.
Thanks again.

I left my sunroof open on tilt a few days ago and my son shut it when he came home a few hours later, mine will not now work although it is closed thank god ! I have tried the reset procedure but it still will not work. I have checked fuse 20 (15a) and it is ok. What can I check next ?
