Just re read the post and it states that if 30 orders recieved they will include a gsm ariel! Does this work without the ariel if 30 are not reached or do we have to purchase that on top of the GB price?

As the GSM unit will be under your bonnet, it will be fully wrapped in metal. That is not contributing to fine gsm reception.
To improve reception a external aerial could do the trick.
Provided you put it outside the metal case that is called your car. Laughing
It is hard to say just how bad gsm reception will be without the aerial. Depends on lots of conditions.

put my GSM unit in a waterproof plastic box velcroed to the front plastic grill under the R in Rover on the bonnet. I get good reception in an underground carpark so quite chuffed.
There's one wheel on my wagon, but i'm still rollin' along, it's the cherokee, they're after me, but I'm singing a happy song

Imagine having installed your gsm operated FBH control in a couple of weeks.
On a cold winter morning you get out of bed and look out of the Window.
The world is covered in a thick layer of snow. Your neighbour is scrubbing his windshield. You had to park your car 2 streets away last night. No parking spot to be found in your own street but you don’t mind. With a grin on your face you reach for your mobile phone to send a text message to switch the FBH on. You imagine all the jealous looks when your car is the only one not covered in snow.
Whilst having your sausages and toast, you hear some sirens a few blocks away. You hardly pay attention: You hear them all the time in a big city.
It has stopped snowing now and under a bleak winter’s sun you walk to your car.
But when you walk round the last corner the street is filled with fire engines and on the spot where you expect to see your car there is, what appears to be, a giant pile of snow.
It turned out some idiot called the fire department when he saw smoke coming from under your bonnet. The firemen did not take any risk and covered your car in extinguishing foam. Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Just a nightmare or could it really happen... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

I've been parking mine in public places (railway station car parks mostly) for a couple of years now, with the FBH set to come on in the middle of the rush hour so I step off the train to a nice, warm car.

No fire engines yet. Whistle
I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Ha ha ,very good Rolling with laughter but I'm just gessing that the fire brigade wouldn't be what they are to have such a knee jerker to a call out.In fact i'm guessing the officer in charge of the call out wouldn't live it down Embarassed Embarassed

Wiring diagramm

Hello,

i just phoned with one german member of this forum.
If i got it right, there are some questions regarding the GSM-remote control left.
We had an 2005 DC3 at our garage and just found a solution to control the factory installed heater (Webasto Thermo Top V) via GSM as well as the heater blower and the air flaps.

To install the heater-blower-control-box, you have to cut some original wires and connect these to the box.
The installation will take approximately 2hours. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail us.

As to the GSM-Aerial, the GSM-remot control is shipped with an small antenna which suits for the most applications. If you live in the countryside, we recommend an external aerial to insure sufficient radio reception.

I have indicated the connections to the control-box in the wiring-diagramm below.

It's -25 tonight so fingers crossed... i need it!!
