maybe. but Im concerned it seems to be less than foolproof... and given its relying on me to know how to correctly position it, and safely jack it up, plus the documented failures of the jacks in operation and bendy handles it does leave you wondering what you can do to ensure you dont get caught out surely?
If I could spend £35 for a pair of airjacks that would work that might be worth it to save me damaging myself or any part of the D3?2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver

I agree with dd, the thought of having to use the scissor jack fills me with fear. I'd use the cheap air jack as a back up to the scissor jack.
Anyway, hopefully dd will soon be able to give us the verdict on the £16.99 jack, look forward to it.

Rich I bet your wife doesn't read these posts! Otherwise you might loose the first few letters off your user name!
To put my pennyworth in I would not trust a £16.99 airbag, if it goes bang look out and you won't get any warning. At the same time I wouldn't pay several hundreds of pounds for one as I can't justify it - if I were to do lots of off roading then yes it would be a good buy. To my mind a trolley or bottle jack is the answer. As I said before I had a nice one in a case that I left in the boot, but found it wasn't tall enough (sounds familiar) I shall be buying a heavy duty high lift bottle jack as the safest and mos appropriate alternative. I am not mechanically minded but I wouldn't try lifting the car anywhere but where LR have instructed either.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

if you want to block off the second exhaust, go to a plumbers shop and get one of these, a test plug.
or you could do what I do
no need to bother blocking of the other exhaust and gives you good height too and probably a darn site safer than the el cheapo balloon jack you're thinking of.
spend some cash, you wouldn't use an elastic band for a seat belt
would you

no... but neither will i pay £100+ for an airbag that was possibly manufactured in china for £5 just because its a 'better' quality. Im merely responding to the desire of some on here to evaluate the cheap ones as the supplier are relatively close to me. If they seem to be of suitable quality and do the job Ill buy 2...one for each exhaust (thus negating some of the risk by halvinf the load per bag and doubling the resilience of the jacking solution). if not I will post back with results and others can make their own choices.
and yes... I would use an elastic band if it was stronger and had better safety characteristics when tested against my seatbelt. 2004 TDV6 HSE Auto Zambezi Silver
